Rubio's Dream Act very unpopular with Latino Voters
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:31:53 PM »
"Poll: Rubio’s DREAM Act Even Less Popular Among Latinos Than Mitt Romney" by Henry Decker

http://www.nationalmemo.com/poll-rubios-dream-act-even-less-popular-among-latinos-than-mitt-romney/

According to a new Latino Decisions poll, the Republican party’s attempts to reach out to Latino voters are falling completely flat.

The poll, which surveyed 609 Latino adults and 500 non-Latino adults across all 50 states, found that Latino voters support President Barack Obama over Mitt Romney by an overwhelming 66 to 23 percent margin. Obama’s 43 point lead is unchanged from a November Latino Decisions/Univision poll that showed the president leading Romney 67 percent to 24 percent.

One way that the Romney campaign has tried to turn around its numbers with Latinos is by giving a prominent role to Cuban-American Senator Marco Rubio. Unfortunately for Romney, the poll shows that Rubio’s signature policy — a watered down version of the DREAM Act — is even less popular with Latino voters than Romney himself.

87 percent of Latinos support Dick Durbin’s original DREAM Act, which would provide undocumented immigrant youth legal resident status, and eventually a path to citizenship if they attend college or serve in the military. Only 10 percent oppose it.

Romney is smarter than to let the GOp "Base" choose the VP candidate ;)

They did that in 2008.  Didn't work out.  Rubio hasn't been in national office for 2 years, his sole legislative achievement is juist talk of a DREAM act, and he fudged details in the whole Cuba refugee thing.

He's a great campaigner, he's got a bright future.  But Rubio is inexperienced.  Not ready.  Not vetted nationally.  There WILL be quesitons that he'll get, that he'll stammer on.  Won't happen to Paul Ryan or Rob Portman.

Romney is smart enough to choose a boring vanilla plain candidate who WONT flub on something.  You choose a guy who has seen 10 or 15 years of 'gotcha' questions, and he's ready for anything.  Rubio still has that glazed over look from time to time, and I guarantee he'll have a few bad moments in the campaign.  Romney needs to make obama's economy the message, and not spend half his time trying to prove to america that Rubio's monster 14 months in congress before he hit the campaign trail are all he needs to run the free world.

never forget that rubio has LESS nat'l experience than Obama had.  LESS.  Very troubling.  Just save him for 2016 or 2020, he WILL be on top of a prez ticket one day.  Don't be greedy at age 40.  Choose a veteran who has spent 15 years shrugging off gotcha questions.

WTF are you talking about?

Mccain could have chosen a moderate like romney or lieberman - a safe choice, with either strong economic or world/for policy experience -

and he would have won.  Disagree all you want.  But he would have.  His ticket would have been dignified.  Palin was simply undignified.  She was a hillbilly that the hillbilly base loved.  But I don't think Romney will go that route - choosing an unproven newbie just to appease the tea party.  I think he'll BEG jeb, then when jeb declines, he'll take a safe 15 year DC vet with STRONG for policy credentials.

33, at the very least, rubio sohuld be excluded because he brings ZERO foreign pollicy or military cred to the ticket.  A NYer named 333386 who lives to hate on obama can look past this glaring gap on the national ticket.  many voters will not.

MCCAIN LOST BECAUSE OF MCCAIN AND THE CRASH OF THE ECONOMY

in 2008, romney was viewed by everyone as the most qualified economic candidate on either side of the aisle.

Mccain would have won the election with economic genius romney on the ticket.

Mccain admitted he was weak on the economy.  Palin couldn't talk at ALL about the economy.  Voters knew it.

Its' 2012, and neither romney nor rubio has any foreign policy or military experience.  HUGE gap there.

LMFAO - and Obama did?

I swear - the mental gymnastics you obama drones will engage in to try to cast 2008 for something other than what it was is still astounding to me.

Obama had very poor foreign policy credentials (some quick resume padding committees) and no military experience.

ROmney and Rubio have this EXACT SAME credentials & experience.

if your defense of a romney/rubio ticket lacking that experience is "Obama didn't have it either", you're in trouble.  Because TODAY, Obama has 4 years experience being president.  It's impossible to say "He doesn't understand how the world works", "he can't keep us safe", or "he won't go after bad guys".

With rubio and romney, you have 2 dudes with no experience killing bad guys, no experience in int'l conflicts - all theory and what they would do - no track record.

They should put on the ticket a vet with 10 years foreign policy committees.  Seriously.  Romney is the governor - they need a lawmaker who has seen the world and voted on wars, seen the outcomes, seen dictators come and go, etc.

Romney/Rubio know the domestic issues, but are woefully inexperienced on world affairs.  No matter how much you hate him, you have to admit obama does in fact have world experience NOW.
