Lawyer: Jail conditions may end Floyd Mayweather career

LAS VEGAS – Lawyers for Floyd Mayweather Jr. say the undefeated champion boxer may never fight again if he's not released from the Las Vegas jail he entered earlier this month.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Mayweather's lawyers filed an emergency motion Monday asking that he serve the remainder of his three-month jail sentence in house arrest.

Lawyer Richard Wright says Mayweather's health is deteriorating by being confined to his cell 23 hours a day and restricted from working out. Jailers are keeping him from the general inmate population because of his celebrity status.

The motion says the boxer's doctor believes the conditions could do irreversible damage to Mayweather's physique.

Bill Cassell, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that oversees the jail, confirmed the boxer is in administrative segreation, confined to his cell 23 hours a day. The one hour a day he gets is by himself is in a recreation area that does not include training facilities, such as weights.

"He's in adminstrative segreation for his safety and the safety of the other prisoners," Cassell said. "Whether that changes is up to the judge today."

Mayweather was booked June 1 for attacking his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched.

Anyone his weight can keep their physique with pushups, dips and situps.
He eats 3 meals per day.

Of course, they want him under house arrest after the Manny fight. He gets one tuneup, Manny gets an Arum fix to get his belt back, and Floyd maps with floor with Manny early next year. At his age, consistency, as far as training goes, is critical.

It would be absolutely awesome if they put him in general population - imagine the action he would get from wannabe tough guys whose claim to fame in the prison yard would be that of knocking out Mayweather. They should just let the carnage commence and film it - I would pay to see that shit.

Tommy Morrison was placed in general population too. He fared okay.

To think that either of these guys are "afraid" of each other is laughable. These are trained fighters who have been to the mountian top. These guys are afraid of only 1 thing, getting the smaller portion of the fight purse. Floyd has fought the hardest hitters in his weight classes. The same people Manny faught (Cotto, sugar shane, etc) have also been torn apart by Floyd.

Floyd isn't on his hgh and is getting small really fast

. Most of us can go on a 2 weeks break and not lose any size or strenght at all. Hell Victor was in for 7 months. Ironic because Floyd didn't want to fight Pacman because of drug testing
