No the item was for the marriage. Accepting it was part of the contract. No contract, no ring. Wedding rings aren't gifts, ask a lawyer and he'll tell you the same thing. in most cases the man gets the ring back unless it was given on a holiday. That's why jewlers always advise men to not give rings near christmas, valentines day, etc... Odd how women always want jewelery for Christmas now. Kind of make you wonder.
Do whatever you like but don't give her a nice chumk of change to spend on a new bf due to some mistakes you've made. If you insist on being less than smart, at least be aware of it.
