Neil Peart is the greatest drummer in rock and roll. Like Mike Mentzer, he worships  Ayn Rand. I feel Neil would have been a better, more complete person if he was a huge, ripped, jacked bodybuilder. Thoughts?

Unquestionably
Come at me Bro!

He began in the legendary Max Webster and went solo in the early '80s.

(He was playing proto-shred lines in the mid-'70s when VERY few even had a clue, for ONE thing.)

I can't enlighten you. If you know guitar and listen to each of his Max Webster efforts and solo albums, the experience of doing so will enlighten you.

The man is a master of tone, guitar composition, phrasing, has chops for miles, feel out the wazzu, and a natural attack and facility that clearly frames him as a freakin' WICKED guitarist.

P.S. In the early '80s he opened for Van Halen and peer reverence for his talent had reached Eddie, who made it a point to stand sidestage during Kim's gigs to listen to him play. How's that for an endorsement? Oh, and a certain Paul Gilbert cites him as being one of his all-time greatest influences, as well.

P.P.S. If you think "Go For Soda" sucks balls, well, that's fine. Subjectivity and all that. But to explore his discography if you're a guitar fan is to become a fan of Mr. Mitchell's playing.
He's also the afternoon DJ for Q107, as I'm sure you know. And he's good at that, too.

Kinda related... Joey Kramer, drummer for Aerosmith lives in my neck of the woods and I've run into him several times at the local HEB buying groceries. Except for the rocker type clothes that only a real rocker at that age could pull off, just your average joe

.Peart was awesome on the Signals album.
i had moving pictures and exit stage left 'live'cd from that tour in my car past few days non stop ,amazing power trio/arena rock.peart especially on 'red barchetta'and yyz drum sound and beat is unreal.geddy and alex around him create such a textured sound to fill in around the obvious 'fan'favorite peart live and the guy writes some interesting songs .
