I care about my appearance, and as a matter of fact I have a tremendous mane, but I would never get it styled, I either have a crewcut or grow it out.  I haven't been to a hairdresser in over a decade, a real man cuts his own hair, clips his own nails, cleans his own teeth, and showers daily. JMO
Only homos goto a hairdresser, if I was to pay for a haircut, I would goto a barber

This is what I've been doing for the past five years or so too... in fact I've never been to a barber before.

I'm starting to get tired of it though.  With this strategy, my hair only really looks good when I shave it (for about a week) then about for another two weeks or so when the sides and top are juuuust the right length.  The sides quickly get too long, at which point I should go to a professional, since I don't want to get rid of the top, but I'm forced to, since my only real option is to shave it all.
