I mean, if you love lifting, why not get your technique to a form that doesn't put largely unnecessary stress on your body/joints? Him opening up his ROM and controlling his movement, for a
start, would in no way diminish the mass he already has built. The drugs and simple resistance stimulus (of any type) takes care of that.
