Marine Corp receiving is more intense than what they show in the video. Its dumbed down for public consumption.
Shit gets real once you get picked up into a training company. (Receiving is kind of a holding unit, to get everyone changed over and accustomed to military lingo and habits)

A friend of mine went to paris island when he was 18, when he came back he gave me a call and I went over to see him. He seemed different, strange, body posture, avoided eye contact, and yelled at me when I moved some of his folded shit so I could sit down. I should have kicked his ass right there and then cause i took it as a bit of a challange, I was always tougher then him and i guess he thought that now since he was a marine he could take me. Ever since then I dont think you need to be all that tough to be get through, just take abuse and have good cardio, let them put your brain in a jar and get a usda stamp of approval. this marine pride is bullshit.

Straight out of boot camp? Of course he was different. Usually once guys get through training and into the fleet they start to relax. Straight out of boot camp, theyre going to think theyre badasses because they just went through a bunch of hell that you cant really relate to.

Boot camp is tough in different ways. Learning to give up control of your life, learning to adapt to constant stress, adapting to constant physical demands, etc, etc.
Boot camp is designed to MAKE you tough, mentally and physically. You dont have to BE tough to join.

Lol, pretty sure most of us have done that at one point or another.
Technically, Marines aren't supposed to wear their uniforms when they're off duty, but we all do at least a few times. Plus women seem to love them.

I used to run around my neighborhood in my BDU pants and combat boots, because its so much more difficult than running in shorts and sneakers. Its technically a no-no by Marine standards.
