My relatives were virtual slaves to Appalachian Coal Companies, my grandfathers great uncles died (fighting on both sides) in the Civil War.  These people (with no education, healthcare, SHOES) walked here 600 miles and took insanely dirty, dangerous jobs in Paper Mills and Steel Mills.  My grandfather was drafted into World War II and nearly killed, my other grandfather died in Korea, my uncles were sent off to Vietnam.

I've not experienced any of these hardships (like Goodrum).

First off, don't mix in the Civil War with the Declaration of Independence.  Secondly, I stand by my conclusion regarding the DOI.  Here you have the Revolutionary War where people are screaming freedom while in the meantime you are dragging people from Africa...whether sold my tribesman or taken by force to the United States against their will to work in the fields.


You can't cry out for freedom when you enslave another human being.  When the Civil War came along, that's when people began to wake up and realize that they were not living the values of the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence along it took another 100 years to get everything right.

I'm thankful for the white people who actually had the god given sense to enforce the actual ideals of the DOI and speak out against it as well as the blacks that fought and died in the civil war for freedom, got lynched in the South just for wanting to vote and sprayed with water hoses and bitten by dogs from Bull Connor....not the people who wrote it and then decided later on.....well everyone is equal except for n i g g e r s and removed the key passages criticizing the slave trade.  I owe no alligence to a piece of paper or a document....only to this country which I served and defended.
