Exactly..!!! What's next? suits that are assisted by hydraulics...??! In that case a 3000 pound squat is just around the corner. If you aren't lifting the weight with your own strength-notwithstanding minimal safety gear-you aren't lifting the weight! A multi ply suit lifting several hundred pounds for you (so to speak) is not a true show of your physical ability.

the original deal with squat suits,benchshirts,kneewraps etc.was they got allowed by various feds for safety reasons,shirts would protect your delts and pecs,suits your hips,lowerback etc,suits were worn back in late 70s and shirts came out in early 80s,they have just gotten out of hand over the years.

I was there when they first came out. They claimed it was for injury prevention but we all know the real reason. They were also accepted because they were the main sponser of the top powerlifting magazines at the time.

Lets say I take 300 mg drol every day, with 3000 mg of test a week with 2000 mg of deca and 1400 mg of tren a week, would I look like Ronnie Coleman? Nope. Would I look like Yates? Nope. If I wear all that stuff he's wearing, could I squat 1300? Nope, could I do 800? Nope. I don't squat anymore due to a neck fusion, but I couldn't ever do that much anyway. Their are literally a few men in the world that can do what he did, even with that support equipment. So, while I agree that those suits, wraps and what not are outrageous, don't even think for one minute anyone could do it by just wearing what he is.

While i do think it's a bit of a circus today, there is no doubt that this guy has put in a lot of years into what he has accomplished. He is a very strong squatter even without the suit. I've worn the suits and been down that road, squatting with a suit is like learning how to squat all over again. I would never do it again, but there is no doubt this guy has put in his time to lift that much weight, bands or not.
