Lawmakers were livid to discover that the United States’ Olympic team uniforms were made in China. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) even suggested “they should take all the uniforms, put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over again.”
 
The company who designed the uniforms, Ralph Lauren, has received less scrutiny. Few outlets have noted that Ralph Lauren himself is a prominent contributor to President Obama and the Democratic Party.
 
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Lauren has given $7,300 to Obama since 2008, and more than $35,000 to the Democratic National Committee.
 
Obama’s own ties to outsourcing have come under scrutiny of late. His much-vaunted green energy loan program awarded billions of taxpayer dollars to foreign-owned companies and firms that manufacture their products overseas.
 
It is unclear whether the DNC will be returning Lauren’s donation. DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse did not immediately return a request for comment.

[Straw Man]

I read the article but it didn't mention the  company that manufactured the uniforms (from what I can see)
Also no mention of who actually is responsible for having the uniforms manufactured overseas

Also read some links regarding taxpayer dollars to companies but it's not clear that these companies manufacture their products overseas.  It appears some do but that others were foreign companies but creating jobs here and others were American companies (like Ford) that were creating jobs overseas

If this is true then that TRULY SUCKS and deserves to be called out and criticized and perhaps even investigated).     If funds form the stimulus package were used to create jobs overseas would be a collosal fuck up

Just listening to NPR in the car (don't know why), apparently the United States couldn't make these uniforms to the same standards as China anyway.  They seriously said that.

Ralph Lauren has also given money to the GOP.  These corporation play both sides to win favor......however I agree that those uniforms need to be burned....beret looks stupid as well
