Probably. Or he will just invoke article 48 and assume total control. He must first get the loyalty of the old Prussian military regime to guarantee this, but first he will have to set fire to the Reichstag.

No but will happen in states with close elections there will be a flood of suspicious mail in ballots that will all be for democrates. Since they can't be individually investigated they will be counted and suddenly the democrate will be the winner. This has happened before. Remember Senator Al Franken?

America has so many many intelligent people yet why do they allow such dumbasses run for President?

Mitt Romney sounds like a tool and the other Republican candidates sound off their head (Besides Ron Paul who is actually a Libertarian running under the Republican banner...)

Obama has introduced drones to his country so that security firms and the government can have surveillance everywhere. Not to mention the expansion of the drone operations and military bases in Africa...

There also seems to be a media blackout on Ron Paul, he's not part of the establishment and the military and intelligence agencies probably loath him.

America is following the cycle of a democracy similar to ancient Athens and the Roman Empire:

Monarchy---> Republic----> Dictatorship---> ....

I wonder if it would be OK to install a SAM unit in your backyard and shoot down fascist drone if it tries to lurk on your backyard in USA ??

I mean all those privacy rights... it can't be OK someone monitors your house from drone without any specific reason.

This is the way I see it as well.
Whats ironic, is that people constantly pretend like the past wont repeat itself, that we're somehow different, yet history is full of examples to the contrary....

In the Roman case, what comes between the Republic and Dominate (Dictatorship) is the Principate, which is an external facade of democracy and a Republic with a working Senate and all previous mechanisms still intact.

In the system of the Roman Republic under a facade it was maybe quite blatant, but you could see how it could work today as well.

Even during the Dominate the Romans referred to their system as a 'Republic' with the emperors position being ratified by the Senate.
