The One Percent
« on: July 18, 2012, 03:48:37 PM »
This 80-minute documentary focuses on the growing "wealth gap" in America, as seen through the eyes of filmmaker Jamie Johnson, a 27-year-old heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune. Johnson, who cut his film teeth at NYU and made the Emmy®-nominated 2003 HBO documentary Born Rich, here sets his sights on exploring the political, moral and emotional rationale that enables a tiny percentage of Americans - the one percent - to control nearly half the wealth of the entire United States. The film Includes interviews with Nicole Buffett, Bill Gates Sr., Adnan Khashoggi, Milton Friedman, Robert Reich, Ralph Nader and other luminaries.

The 3% is what you really need to worry about.

You watched a 80 minute video in five minutes? lol

I don't "worry" about anything.  :)

Why don't you elaborate your concerns about "the 3%"?

History has a way of repeating itself, when the revolutionary war was fought it was actually done so by about only 3 percent of the population.
When the shit hits the fan again, and it will, historically 3 percent of the populus will be prepared to wage war upon the oppressors.

I really don`t need to watch a video to know there are people with great wealth and power not willing to give it away peacefully but thank you just the same.

Benny, my wife and I make a combined between $250,000 and $300,000, what do you think I should do with my money?  Also, the gap gets bigger because it's easier to make money when you have it( see my posts in the socialism thread), what do you expect the well off to do?  Should they give away their money to the poor so that they have a chance, but didn't work to earn it?

The problem is that the 1% control big businees, who have politicians in their pocket, who finance the presidential campaigns and come asking when its time to return the favor.

nah, theyre both elitist systems.

allows upward mobility, yeah, for a few on the basis of taking advantage of others.

human greed is endless, that is the problem, the love for money, not money itself.

there is no free market in either system, try to get aloan to start a really big business and see what happens.

i dont know a solution, obviously.just my opinion.
nice.
