Another good point, the black guys on the 92 team all had solid bball IQ, Magic has a billion dollar fortune, Jordan not far behind, Drexler very well spoken, Robinson highly intelligent, Chuck knew how to play the game properly, Mullin and Stock had great white guy IQ.

Global basketball is on another level than it was in 1992, but we should still be rolling through the Olympics easily. The team has two of the best players of all time and a bunch of all-stars in their primes from the best league in the world. Before NBA pros could play (the NBA was nearly 100% American players back then), our college kids used to win the gold fairly easily in most years.

They have to get use to playing against and using Zone Defense.
When Lebron was on the last Olympic team he was on the bench---my guess is because he never played Zone Defense---they do it in college and International Ball, not in HS, so he had no real experience with it, even though he had been in the NBA a few yrs.

Wake up......the world is getting better at a lot of things and the US is getting worse at a lot of things. Economics, math, health, environment blah blah blah. We've been on the top for a long time...........we are in for a rude awakening in the next few generations. Sports is a perfect example. A lot of US pro players have gotten fat and lazy....literally and figuratively. Kobe is an over paid douche. Same with Lebron. These guys have had everything handed to them.

The USA still has great basketball players, but the world has improved by leaps and bounds in the last 20 years. Manu Ginobili is no joke.

There are definitely a lot of racist sentiments in this thread. LeBron, Durant, Paul, Kobe to an extent (he does shoot too much) are not just great athletes, but also play the game quite intelligently. Team USA should win the gold, but may lose due to lack of size and also the fact that it is just one game- there is no way they would lose a 7 game series to any of these teams
