Talking Points Memo uncovered two SEC filings from July 2000 and February 2001. In both, Romney lists his "principal occupation" as "Managing Director of Bain Capital, Inc."


1999 News Reports
As Slate's Dave Weigel pointed out, Romney's campaign has cited news reports from 1999 that clearly state that Romney left Bain in 1999. However, those same news reports state that Romney would still be involved with the company. "Romney said he will stay on as a part-timer with Bain, providing input on investment and key personnel decisions," read one such report from the Boston Herald

Look, he was still workin there.  Attending board meetings.  getting a paycheck.  Nobody really denies it anymore.  it's one of those "okay, you libs were right, but who really cares".

Romney wanted to distance himself from fetus disposal and outsourcing that was rampant from 99 to 02.  He got caught.  That's it.

1977 + 25 = 2002

So by Willard's own admission he left Bain in 2002

the numbers are pretty clear there.  He claimed 25 years of service, which woudl have ended in 2002.
he went to board meetings.
his name was on all the documents.
he was paid for his services.
he was listed as retiring in 2002 in press releases.

Only LATER when they wanted to distance him from the outsourcing they did from 99 to 02 did they invent that 1999 number.  And I think most intelligent people know this.  Getbiggers who like romey aren't exactly jumping in to defend him here   He lied he got caught by his own words.  They know it.  They aren't goin to admit it, but they know it.

The AP reported this week that Romney stayed in "regular contact" with Bain during his so-called absence, "personally signing or approving a series of corporate and legal documents through the spring of 2001." Several sources are now saying that Romney made repeated trips to Boston to meet with Bain executives during this period, even though he recently told CBS's Jan Crawford that he doesn't "recall even coming back once to go to a Bain or a management meeting" during the period in question.

look, s,traw, the dude lied.

33 and everyone else on getbig - they're not saying youre wrong here.  they've accepted it.  They know.  proof is pretty obvious - he says he left, but he was at meetings, getting paid, signing documents.  maybe he worked there in a reduced capacity, but he was still very much involved with the firm, even as they disposed of fetuses or exported jobs.

so at this point, unless getbiggers say he didn't work there, it's just piling on.  Romney embarassed every one of them who defended him.  They know that.  They have to look in the mirror every morning, into the eyes of a man who trusted Mitt and was burned badly by his lies.  It is their cross to bear.
