Romney backing down from initial criticism of Olympics
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:29:44 AM »
After realizing they weren’t appreciated.

Mitt Romney’s London romp got off to a rocky start after he called Britain’s Olympic preparations “disconcerting” and questioned whether Londoners would even show up for the event. Mitt commented to NBC on Tuesday: “The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials, that obviously is not something which is encouraging.” British Prime Minister David Cameron responded sassily: “We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.” Burn. Now Romney’s in London (awkward), and right before his meeting with the leader of the British Labor Party, he attempted some damage control. “Of course there will be errors from time to time,” Romney admitted, “but those are overshadowed by the athletes,” which is what the Games are all about, right?

What Romney said was 100% the truth and was widely reported in their own papers.

Talk about trying to create an issue out of nothing to avoid discussing obama's disastrous economic record.

Gordon Gekko raised a valid concern, I think.

If he gets elected, I hope he stays on good ground with England, since they're one of the few allies worth keeping. I've always admired the Britsih.

valid or not

he's too stupid to understand what you should say and not say

if you're invited to a party you don't tell your friends wife that she looks fat or the food sucks

The British Prime Minister weighed in on Romney comments yesterday with this quote:

“We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.

romney, himself someone who ran the olympics, was feeling insecure and felt the need to shit on their presentation of the Games.

it's diff throwing it in Salt lake City, versus crowded ass london.

he is a negative man - remember him shitting on some bakery cookies, saying they looked like they were from 7-11?

you can't escape that kind of negativity, it permeates everything and eeks out from time to time.

Crowded London? Try China with its 1.5 billion people, 20 million of which are crammed into Beijing. Piss poor excuse but typical for you.

Funny how you want to talk about this instead of the abysmal 1.5% GDP last quarter. I hope you never criticize anyone else again for talking about non-issues, you fucking hypocrite.

doesn't matter.    the job he wants is president, not Olympic inspector.

Classless move for him to weigh in on the host country.  I guarantee, if Obama visited Japan and couldn't stop telling japanese TV about the shitty way the Japances govt handled the Tsunami effort, you'd call him names for being so undignified.

doesnt matter if he ran ten Olympics.

He wants to be president.  You don't go to foreign soil and shit on the job they're trying to do.

You just don't.  You can complain about obama bowing, but he was going out of his way to be respectful to a foreign leader.  Romney goes out of his way to go to a strong ally and embarass them on the world stage.

If you think that's okay for the american president to visit foreign soil and lecture them on how to run events, well,
