Actually in the very early Mr america and Mr Universe contest the top competitors had to clean and jerk some weight and it was a deciding factor.

the reason jcg beat steve reeves in the mr universe contest was due to gymnastics. they were tied at the end and at bob hoffman suggestion jcg did some flips and handstands and they gave the crown to him.
