It's more exciting when there is a state sponsored drug program pushing out world class athletes. There has to be a "bad guy" to root against to make the Olympics more fun. North Korea should do the same, really push the old East German image.

Im talking more or less, that is what the Chinese do--the true marque sports are Track and field events, you can't argue with that. Been that way since the original Olympic games. Add wrestling as well.
The swimming/diving are the appetizers for the other events...gymnastics and basketball didn't become really popular until the late 70s and early 80s.

The drug use has to go the the Russians and Soviet Union. They first produced them, tested them, and made their use a brilliant science. I believe America would be 20-30 years behind in drug knowledge if the information hadn't leaked from Russia.

I watch the olympics for the individual athletes and don't care about nationality, but if China beats US' ass I'm interested in the reaction it brings.

You know how Americans were really proud of their tall buildings, lasting about a century or so? Now when Middle East ("sand blacks") and Asians are beating them by hundreds of meters, tall buildings are waste of money and "gay". Same thing happening with the olympics. Whenever the propaganda value diminishes, things become "gay".
