There is some family in NC (from what I was old there was an ariticle written about them) that stated that their "swarthy" skin tone and dark eyes were because they were of "portuguese" ancentry, when one of the people had a DNA test done, it stated that they had a whole lot of West African DNA, the man was so shocked, that he had it done several times, because he thought it was a mistake...Turns out, there was possilby a Portuguese person, but the thing was just a story that people told to hide the truth---possibly to "pass" for white.
