Needle depth

when injection, does the entire length of the needle need to be in the spot? Im just asking because the link in the newbies dos and donts topic, it shows the examples having the needle all the way in...is this necessary?

Needles are like an inch long, everytime I've gotten a shot the needle has never gone in more than maybe a 1/4....so please fill me in...thanks

I think those pics only show the entire needle depth in the injection spot because theyre not really injecting it, all they do is hold a vile without the needle to their arm to make it look like their injecting it. I'm sure the whole needle isnt necessary. 1/4th - 1/2 the needle should be fine I'm assuming. Wait for some opinion from the experts here though, these people know their stuff.

Naw what you wanna do is put the needle all the way in, bury that sucker!  Deep intramuscular is best.  You should use pins in the 1"-1.5" range, 22-25 gauge.

To an extent it depends on where you're injecting coupled with the needles you have to work with.

IMO, it's best to go all the way in.  Obviously if you're using a 1.5 inch needle and injecting your delt you don't have to plunge it all the way, but......

Some people recommend not going quite all the way in, in case the needle breaks.  If you're using quality needles/syringes though, you'd have to try very hard to get that sucker to break.

what about the hitting the bone though...I mean isnt the bone only an inch or 2 under the flesh where the delt is? That shit would hurt

Bury it baby! The deeper the better . . .
Of course muscle group permitting. I agree with Blake . . .

I initially said (earlier) in my current cycle, that I did not like pinning the thighs.
I have been experimenting with placement and depth on my thighs.
I stand corrected . . . may turn out to be my favorite place.

I CAN bury a 23 guage 1.5" up to the hub with the thigh
and push away. Generally greater depth (in my big quads)
and more meat (to absorb oil) than in the glutes.
Hardly any soreness, when done higher on leg.

I am more concerned about pinning an (unknown) insertion point,
more so than hitting vein or a bone (which IS deep) in my case.
