The whole marriage thing is about money, the politicians don't care, they want the money that comes with the marriages. Think of how much a marriage license costs, per county. No, they don't cost that much at all, but they add up. Dependig on where and what county you live, they can be what $20-$50? And like you said, later on down the line attorney fees.
