The guy is so full of respect and integrity that it's refreshing to hear. A simply amazing human being who lived an amazing life. Probably the strongest man in the world and he was completely natural. I love the guy. Best wrestling shoot interview ever!! 700lbs deadlift, 565lbs bench, 750lbs squat, 338lbs bench for 38 straight reps, bodyslamming 625lb Haystacks Calhoun
And all friggin' natural to at a massive 275lbs. Nothing but hard work, determination and mamma's pasta.

First, I doubt he was drug-free, and second, those are STILL friggin' nutty poundages, even for a dude gassing. Particularly the 565 bench. Such a press would have put him on top of the bench-press world at the time, easy. |

I have not watched the video but my understanding was/is that he was the first to bench press 500lbs. He also was beaten by Paul Anderson for the olympic team, maybe 1956ish?
