Older military dudes >>>> new generation of military
« on: August 15, 2012, 01:01:56 PM »
Yesterday I had a conversation with an old man who served in the marines.  He was having a coffee sitting next to me and I notice his hat and asked him about his service.  The guy went into details of some of the wars, fighting in 'nam, some funny stories, some scary stories and just cool stories.

This is one of many conversations I've had with some guys who served in these wars of past and all were just cool dudes.  But today's military dudes all seem like a bunch of douche shitheads.  Their iraq stories are boring, they have nothing fun to say.  They are just full of hatred and misguidance.

Cheers to the old fucks that faught for us!!!!

Agreed. Love listening to my Grandpa tell stories about when he was in Korea. The people who I talk to now who have spent time in the desert all seem like your typical jarhead douchebagge.

i also think the older guys have more of a sense of pride and patoitism, seems like alot of the guys in our generation only care about who killed who and how.

Different era and ethics.
War has always been one of the dirtiest business ventures but it got worse as technology progressed and society corroded.
I can imagine that there are a huge number of special ops commandos who are outstanding overall but the general grunt is just a little bit more expendable than ever.

You call military men "Miles Gloriosus"...

The Romans had the same opinion.

There were a shit load of losers who fought over in Nam. People don't really change. It's just that as time goes by, people like to talk about the past as if it were so much better than the present.

Bullshit, WW2 was the end of the real wars. Nam and Korea were the beginning of this new type of warfare, much like WW1 was the beginning of mechanized warfare. And, no offense to any of our guys serving now, I appreciate it, but the armed forces have gone soft. The minute you let a woman in to do anything but be a nurse, we fucked up.

Anytime you force people to enlist, you're bound to get a minimum of 50% fucking pussies and cowards(human nature) The coward gene didn't just exist in the 21st century. I call complete bullshit propaganda on how bad ass most of the 120 pound soldiers were of the past.

Thats because they haven't had time to embellish and elaborate their stories yet.  They're still dealing with making sense of what just happened.

military - tool of rich people to get even more rich
soldiers - naive kids believing in "defending their motherland" especially thousands miles away like U.S.A now,
nothing more than global terrorism.

Some call them "heroes"

Well, heroism isn`t killing afghans armed with old AK-47 with your new hi tech weapons, THEY ARE HEROES, nations which invaded them are fucking filths.

If I join army, and they send me to Iraq and I kill few partisans defending their country can I call myself HERO?  ::)

Fuck all green brains in the ass.

“Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy.” - Henry Kissinger in front of Alexander Haig, newly appointed White House chief of staff, in Haig new office in 1973

Quote:
....
In Haig's presence, Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as "dumb, stupid animals to be used" as pawns for foreign policy. Kissinger often took up a post outside the doorway to Haig's office and dressed him down in front of the secretaries for alleged acts of incompetence with which Haig was not even remotely involved. Once when the Air Force was authorized to resume bombing of North Vietnam, the planes did not fly on certain days because of bad weather. Kissinger assailed Haig. He complained bitterly that the generals had been screamin for the limits to be taken off but that now their pilots were afraid to go up in a little fog. The country needed generals who could win battles, Kissinger said, not good briefers like Haig.
.........
[paragraph]
On another occasion, when Haig was leaving for a trip to Cambodia to meet with Premier Lon Nol, Kissinger escorted him to a staff car, where reporters and a retinue of aides waited. As Haig bent to get into the automobile, Kissinger stopped him and began polishing the single star on his shoulder. "Al, if you're a good boy, I'll get you another one," he said.

end of quote
