Libertarians Sue to Have Romney Kicked Off Washington Ballot
« on: August 17, 2012, 06:51:06 PM »

As I first reported some weeks back, the Washington State Republican Party's failure to nominate a candidate for US Senate in 2010 appears to have cost them "major party" status under the letter of RCW 29A.04.086. This failure should in turn have required Mitt Romney to qualify for Washington's presidential ballot under rules and deadlines applied to "minor parties," a deadline that has long since passed.

Today the Libertarian Party of Washington State filed suit (PDF) to have Romney's name removed from the November ballot:

It's not like Romney stood a fighting chance in Washington, so this is kinda cool. It won't help Obama but it'll give Libertarians a chance for once to get a pretty significant vote.

"Libertarians" who are too "pure" to play within the rules of the game are mostly bunch of bitches.   I see it with a lot of my facebook activity how self centered and delusional these crack pots are.  These dopes bicker amongst each other over every little detail etc and NEVEr can put together a platform or slate of candidates appealling to the public in any way and then complain when they are ignored.

The most hysterical thing is that these same fanatics mock the tea party!  Are you kidding?  What have libertarians ever done to move the ball down the field?  What efforts have they ever made to take over primary races etc?

Don't these stupid morons understand that even if we had a parlimentary system or a system where there were more parties that governing coalitions are required to get anything done or advance ones' own cause?

These same dopes treat people who may disagree with them on say 20-30% of the issues are considered enemies and not 70% friends to be worked with.

Utterly absurd how these people approach politics.

What would really be funny is if the libertarian candidate beat Obama in Washington

It's probably not going anywhere but lol at 3333 and tony all upset ::)  As if republicans and dems wouldn't try to hold a state to their own rules if they thought it would help them out.  Even if that just meant keeping some third party candidate off the ballot.  These type of lawsuits are not uncommon and good, it makes lawmakers take a second look at how they did shit.  Big freaking deal...  But lets just blame libertarians.   I saw in the comment section people blaming Ron Paul for this ::)  That's hilarious since it would have kept him off the ballot too hahaha..

nice meltdown 3333

Its not a meltdown - its the truth.

Every election cycle its the same bs from these crackpots.   All they do is complain and whine and never field a slate of candidates appealing to the public and then complain aboyt the system.

Romney should have never been allowed to run for governor

he had to retroactively correct his tax returns (after having lied about them) in order to be eligible

I agree - the LP is the most ineffective inefficient political party in the history of the universe. Ron Paul has done faaaaar more for the cause of libertarianism in about six years than the LP has done in four decades.

That part is true.

But I don't see what's worth getting upset over in regards to this lawsuit.  If anything the lawsuit exposes for questioning by people what dems and or republicans put in place to protect their turf from being challenged.  I don't see anything wrong with this lawsuit.  It won't go anywhere but that's not the entire point.  Same with the lawsuit brought by Ron Paul followers a bit ago.  It didn't go anywhere but it exposed shit that everyone should agree has no place in our system.  I think voting is the most important thing we have.  Way to much shit happening now that dicks with our vote and choices today.  A little challenge to these things is alright by me.

Oh I agree - the LP sucks and I advise any fellow libertarian to stay away not only from the LP but from LP activists as well (they tend to be sore losers). That said, this lawsuit is awesome, it won't damage Mitt Romney (so Republicans have nothing to bitch about), and it'll be interesting to see a one-on-one match-up of Gary Johnson against Obama. If Gary Johnson really focused in on that state, maybe he could even win it?
