GOP fears Senate is lost

GOP Panics as Cornyn throws Akin under the bus, BIG NEWS because it means GOP fears Senate is lost

In the clearest sign yet that pressure is being exerted on Akin to leave the race, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) issued a statement saying the Congressman has 24 hours to make a decision on what’s “best for him, his family, the Republican Party, and the values that he cares about” and to “carefully consider” his options. A GOP source also confirmed that the NRSC is prepared to pull it’s $5 million ad reservation if Akin does not drop out of the contest.

“Congressman Akin’s statements were wrong, offensive, and indefensible,” Cornyn said.

The Dems have twice as many seats on the line as the GOP and only need to net four to take the majority. If this guy stays, that hardly means McCaskill is going to suddenly be a lock (she was losing to an unnamed Republican in the polls).

true.   Also I bet if it was a close race, with control on the line...  the national GOP would give him $ for the win.

Control wouldn't be on the line. If the Senate is tied, the VP is the tiebreaker. Therefore, if Romney wins, and the Senate is tied, Ryan is the tie breaker. Thus, the GOP controls the Senate.

They want to leave nothing to chance, because the magic number is 51 in the Senate to repeal ObamaCare.

well then it's 1 more vote, and that seat gives repubs the tie break with the 51st seat.  You know what i mean - if it's not looking like 47 seats or 53 seats - if it looks like it'll be close and that seat matters, the GOP backs him with support and money.

Remember Larry Craig?  Promised to resign then "changed mind" lmao.
