I vacation to NC every year, and it amazes me how many shootings are on the news everynight.  Seems like there are plenty of armed robberies going on in the smokies.

I`m not sure of the crime statistics there in the Smokies, but shootings and armed robbery should be very low when compared to the rest of the country and per capita.  There are only rural whites out there and there is nothing to rob.

Everyone who supports strict gun control come from or live in large cities with a too large police force.  It makes no sense for them to dictate their nonsense to someone who lives miles and miles away from police or a sheriff which a large number of people in the United States do.  In rural areas you can`t just wait for the cops to show up.  In some places it may take an hour or more.

Open carry isn't smart from a stategic view.  You're advertising your strengths and weaknesses to everyone.  Know your 'Art of War', "In Battle, confrontation is done directly, victory is gained by surprise."    If I know you're armed I have the advantage on you.  If your weapon is concealed you have the advantage on me.

Also...firearms aren't cheap.  To open carry is like wearing flashy jewelry.

I keep a baseball bat in the backseat. I own a handgun but never really feel the need to carry it.One of these days I'm going to get another one just to keep in the car. I don't want to get my only one stolen. Or Ill throw a cheap pump gun in the backseat with a box of shells.
I'm either at work or at the gym. On the weekend I'm at the bar can't carry when drinking. Plus I feel safe where I live never had a problem. I would never tell someone not to carry if they wanted to though.

Haha. Where are you from? Even the libs own guns here in the southern US.

 I don't have any relatives with small children and all my guns are in combo cases and unloaded except the ones in my vehicles. I can chamber a round quickly. The ones in my truck amd car are just in quick release holsters with a clear barrel. Quick to chamber also.

Today I'm walking along with shaved head, fanny pack, decent size, surveying every potential threat as I moved form bank to car...

And this cop starts cruising behind me like I"m the bad guy.  The fanny was so I coudl pack the big glock with sweats while doin my banking... but it damn near got me gaffled.  I did nothing wrong and waited for him to leave before leaving so he didn't tail me for a half hour. 


But yeah, cops don't always understand there are good guys out there with guns.   Shit hits fan, they're going apeshit on anything they see.   Best bet in a messy shooting/robbery is to hit ground like everyone else and just shoot the closest bad guys first.  They have zero loyalty once their friend pinkmists in front of them.
