I think if you want to play - you should have to pay.  We cannot afford it, and frankly, it's just not fair to make taxpayers foot the bill so little johnny can play little league.

When I paid little league, we had to pay a yearly league fee. And we had to pay to rent our equipment for the season which was a fee, and we got out and fund raised if we wanted new uniforms. Government had no part of anything.

Same here, I didn't even know there were free youth sports?

Fundraising is actually pretty easy - just go door to door. We did it all the time for high school wrestling.

You can't go door to door now..too many weirdos out there who could grab your child.  I think that with obesity on the rise, it wouldn't be a bad idea for sports to be free.  It might encourage parents to put their children into more sports and also with lower income families who can't afford to pay for their child to do a sport this would mean that the child doesn't miss out.
