Book: SEALs Angry Obama Used bin Laden Killing, Called Biden 'Drunken Uncle'

A firsthand account of the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden contradicts previous accounts by administration officials, raising questions as to whether the terror mastermind presented a clear threat when SEALs first fired upon him.

Bin Laden apparently was hit in the head when he looked out of his bedroom door into the top-floor hallway of his compound as SEALs rushed up a narrow stairwell in his direction, according to former Navy SEAL Matt Bissonnette, writing under the pseudonym Mark Owen in "No Easy Day." The book is to be published next week by Penguin Group (USA)'s Dutton imprint.

Special: Get Mark Owen's "No Easy Day" SEAL book for just $4.95 — Save $22. This incredible offer won't last long. Go Here Now.

Bissonnette says he was directly behind a "point man" going up the stairs. "Less than five steps" from top of the stairs, he heard "suppressed" gunfire: "BOP. BOP." The point man had seen a "man peeking out of the door" on the right side of the hallway.

The author writes that bin Laden ducked back into his bedroom and the SEALs followed, only to find the terrorist crumpled on the floor in a pool of blood with a hole visible on the right side of his head and two women wailing over his body.

Bissonnette says the point man pulled the two women out of the way and shoved them into a corner and he and the other SEALs trained their guns' laser sites on bin Laden's still-twitching body, shooting him several times until he lay motionless. The SEALs later found two weapons stored by the doorway, untouched, the author said.

In the account related by administration officials after the raid in Pakistan, the SEALs shot bin Laden only after he ducked back into the bedroom because they assumed he might be reaching for a weapon.

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor would not comment on the apparent contradiction late Tuesday.

"No Easy Day" was due out Sept. 11, but Dutton announced the book would be available a week early, Sept. 4, because of a surge of orders due to advance publicity that drove the book to the top of the Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com best-seller lists.

The Associated Press purchased a copy of the book Tuesday.

In another possibly uncomfortable revelation for U.S. officials who say bin Laden's body was treated with dignity before being given a full Muslim burial at sea, the author reveals that in the cramped helicopter flight out of the compound, one of the SEALs called "Walt" was sitting on bin Laden's chest as the body lay at the author's feet in the middle of the cabin.

The publisher says the author used pseudonyms for all the SEALs.

Bissonnette also writes disparagingly that none of the SEALs were fans of President Barack Obama and knew that his administration would take credit for ordering the May 2011 raid. One of the SEALs said after the mission that they had just gotten Obama re-elected by carrying out the raid.

But he says they respected him as commander in chief and for giving the operation the go-ahead.

Bissonnette writes less flatteringly of meeting Vice President Joe Biden along with Obama at the headquarters of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment after the raid. He says Biden told "lame jokes" no one understood, reminding him of "someone's drunken uncle at Christmas dinner."

Beyond such embarrassing observations, U.S. officials fear the book may include classified information, as it did not undergo the formal review required by the Pentagon for works published by former or current Defense Department employees.

Officials from the Pentagon and the CIA, which commanded the mission, are examining the manuscript for possible disclosure of classified information and could take legal action against the author.

In a statement provided to The Associated Press, the author says he did "not disclose confidential or sensitive information that would compromise national security in any way."

Bissonnette's real name was first revealed by Fox News and confirmed to The Associated Press.

Jihadists on al-Qaida websites have posted purported photos of the author, calling for his murder.

SEAL Book Says Bin Laden Was Unarmed, Killed Outside His Bedroom

AP Photo/National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency)

Dashiell Bennett 6:39 AM ET

Several news outlets have finally got their hands on a copy of the new book about the raid on Osama bin Laden's Pakistan compound, and the details emerging contradict many of the earlier reports about what happened inside the house on the night the al Qaeda leader was killed.  No Easy Day is set to be released September 11, but The Huffington Post's Marcus Baram picked up a preview copy in a used bookstore, which is a common way to find pre-released books. The Associated Press bought a copy as well.

The book, written by ex-Navy SEAL Matt Bissonnette (under the pseudonym Mark Owen), is a first-person account of the raid on the Abbottabad compound where bin Laden had been in hiding for years. According Bissonnette's version of events, there was no extended firefight between SEAL Team 6 members and bodyguards and bin Laden himself never got the chance to confront or even see the soldiers before they killed him. Instead, he was shot in the hallway outside of his bedroom, then "disappeared into the dark room." By the time the soldiers entered, he was already dying of wounds to the head. Bissonnette says he and another team member then shot him several more times in the chest to ensure he was dead.

The book also says that while there were two guns found in bin Laden's room, neither was loaded and he never had a chance to defend himself. Bissonnette even calls him a "pussy" for not being prepared to defend or kill himself. Even though bin Laden was killed without resisting, the SEAL were instructed beforehand that it was not an assassination mission and that bin Laden should have been brought back alive, if possible.

Bissonnette is also critical of President Obama in his story, saying that no one on the team was a fan of the president and that they believed he and other leaders would inflate their own roles in the story. Even before the raid began, the SEALs joked about how they would help Obama get re-elected and also speculated about who would play them in the Hollywood movie. Despite their personal feelings about Obama, however, the SEALs did agree that he made the right call, saying "Although we applauded the decision-making in this case, there was no doubt in anybody’s mind that he would take all the political credit for this too.”

They also complained that after a White House meeting with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden  ("he reminded me of someone’s drunken uncle at Christmas dinner") the President invited them to return some other time for a beer, but that call never came.

Pentagon to consider legal action against ex-SEAL author of bin Laden raid book
Fox News ^ | 8/30/2012 | AP

WASHINGTON – The Pentagon's top lawyer has informed the former Navy SEAL who authored a forthcoming book describing details of the raid that killed Usama bin Laden that he violated agreements to not divulge military secrets and that as a result the Pentagon is considering taking legal action against him.

The general counsel of the Defense Department, Jeh Johnson, wrote in a letter transmitted to the author on Thursday that he had signed two nondisclosure agreements with the Navy in 2007 that obliged him to "never divulge" classified information. Johnson said that after reviewing a copy of the book, "No Easy Day," the Pentagon concluded that the author is in "material breach and violation" of the agreements.

Johnson said the department is considering pursuing against him "all remedies legally available to us."

I don't see how he could leak any more information than Obama has.  ::)

I like how the Obama regime is willing to risk national security (and lives) to further his political career. That Pakistani doctor serving 33 years in jail for helping the US says, "Hello", by the way.

Former SEAL: Obama administration leaks ‘a personal insult,’ will ‘get Americans killed’

1:37 AM 08/31/2012

TAMPA, Fla. — Former Navy SEAL Benjamin Smith said Thursday that the Obama administration is “leaking like a sieve” about the exploits of American special forces, and that special operations are being weakened to the point where “it’s going to get Americans killed.”

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s Republican or Democrat,” Smith told The Daily Caller at the Republican National Convention, “but on the field of battle if the enemy finds out what intelligence we have, they have time to change tactics. Or they sidestep us completely because they know we’re coming.”

“Then we don’t get to fight them overseas. They come here and they kill Americans.”

Smith is a spokesman for the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund, a non-profit group of military veterans whose TV ads have been critical of President Barack Obama for quickly claiming credit after SEALs killed Osama bin Laden in 2011.

While some political observers believe Obama’s hastily called press event unintentionally compromised American intelligence collected during the raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan, Smith said he wasn’t certain.

“Was it unintentional?” he asked. “A leak can be a mistake, or it can be intentional for either political gain or tactical or strategic advantage.”

Smith spent nearly six years as a Navy SEAL, and said he left the service when his superiors wanted him to leave the active military theater and train future SEALs instead. “I said ‘get me back out there,’” he recounted.

“I protected people for a living — both Americans and non-Americans alike,” he told TheDC.

Smith said he was frustrated with the Obama administration’s failure to protect Shakeel Afridi, a Pakistani doctor who helped SEAL Team Six identify bin Laden, then the leader of the al-Qaida global terror network.

Pakistani authorities arrested Afridi shortly after the raid on bin Laden’s compound. He was convicted in May on treason charges and sentenced to 33 years in prison.

“What do you think that tells other potential intelligence sources around the world?” Smith asked. “It says, ‘Don’t give them anything. Don’t trust them or you’ll be tortured and your family will be wiped off the face of the earth.’”

The White House, said Smith, should respect the quiet dignity of special operators and keep mum about what they do.

“Stop the leaks,” he said. “Silent professionals within special operations don’t seek accolades for achievements. They go back into the shadows.”

Obama, he added, “could take a lesson from George W. Bush, when he got Saddam Hussein.”

“The original message coming out of the press was that ‘the U.S. army got him.’ Then it came out weeks later that some kid noticed Saddam’s spider hole and told a soldier.”

“And it was a Delta Force guy. But they never sought or claimed credit for the work.”

Smith came back quickly to Obama’s media availability after the bin Laden “kill raid,” saying the intelligence information collected in Abbottabad most likely went to waste.”

“If al-Qaida doesn’t know he [bin Laden] is gone, their hackles don’t go up,” he explained.

“We had a great opportunity but the administration put all that information out there. The chance of destroying al-Qaida completely was given up within a couple of hours after the raid was over.”

Smith’s voice grew louder and cracked.

“All the work that special operators have suffered for, and given their lives for, was rendered pointless,” he said, nearly shouting over a lunchtime din at the Tampa Convention Center. “I take it as a personal insult. These kinds of leaks kill people.”

“Sorry,” he said, lowering his voice. “I will get emotional about this. It happens.”

Osama was killed/died in 2001.  This SEAL is full of shit and so is our government.  Spec Ops are pawns for the government.  They are told when to jump and how high plain and simple.  They do not think outside their zone of orders and job duties period.  Osama had more body doubles than Hollywood action heroes.  Our Navy and our government have got to think we the American people are the biggest bunch of morons this side of planet Earth.  Hell maybe we are.  Burial at sea because we respect the most wanted man in the world's religious beliefs?  LMAO!  What a fucking joke!  The US Navy should be fucking ashamed!
