Nikola Tessla Appreciation Thread
« on: August 31, 2012, 12:19:49 PM »
He is the greatest inventor of all time (mechanical and electrical engineer, physicist and futurist), yet, he receives very little credit for so many of the things we use today.  He tried to give the world free energy and of course the power elite, would have none of it. In addition, the the day he died the government ransacked his living quarters and took all his notes and everything else of value scientifically.

Born at the stroke 12:00 am with a clap of lightening (yes, that is literally the story). This brilliant Serbian had a  photographic memory and was able to invent things in his mind and go straight to production without tinkering. In addition he spoke 7 languages fluently and had over 300 patents attributed to him.

He doesn't get enough credit.  I'll spare you by not listing all his patents.  But I suggest you read about this remarkable man.

He was so "out there" he was marginalized by his collegues and outcast but he ended up being correct on everything he said...More brilliant than Einstein, edison (scambag) and many of the other greats.  He was the Ronnie of brainiacs.  This is one man I would have given my left nut to converse with and know.

I agree. Marginalized as an eccentric and bullied by Edison.

I also feel the same way about Turing. Marginalized as a homosexual and an eccentric. But he basically won the war by decoding the Enigma. And invented the foundations for what would become computers. The government attempted to convert his behavior by injecting him with hormones to stop his homosexuality (yeah - the state did this kind of crazy shit). He lost the will to live, and poisoned himself in very poetic fashion.

But, not to take the thread off topic. Tesla was the rarest of gems. I eagerly await the next genius able to produce his kind of impact on civilization.

I've known of him a long time and over the past year really took an interest because of his "death ray" aka particle ray and free energy...I'll post good books and website as I come across them (no pun intended and no homo).

We could have learned so much more from him.

lol @ Mike.

This is for you Johnny Falcon

(Tesla became a vegetarian in his later years, living on only milk, bread, honey, and vegetable juices.[165][127] Tesla argued that it is wrong to eat uneconomic meat when large numbers of people are starving; he also believed that plant food was "superior to [meat] in regard to both mechanical and mental performance". He also argued that animal slaughter was "wanton and cruel".[166])

Yes I have long suspected that Jew-Honey Falcon is at least a partial reincarnation of N.T.

Yes there must be some cool stuff - at least at experimental stage. what that is, is not known in very many places... oh, how much more one would know if working at defense ministries of these countries  :P

Great post wiggs

Started reading about him lately...truly one of the greatest and most underrated minds of all time. Seemed like a good person as well, had the right idea about alot of things. Its a shame for all of humanity that his most potentially beneficial works were sequestered by 'the powers that be'....

No question!
Tesla perfected AC current  by 1880 and his AC system is the exact same method we still use today .
Edison wanted to only use DC.

Funny how Edison is always talked up, when he's a complete chump in comparison.

Howard I know you're a teacher, but isn't your degree in physics or something that requires brains?
