Tell me more about this part of the country
« on: September 02, 2012, 08:09:57 PM »
I love coastal states and towns

Expensive? (housing)

Good place to vacation?

Cost of living?

Demographics (Wealthy, Modest, etc)

I go to Boston (Worcester) about every year or two but never to get out and explore.

You're asking a broad question.

Coastal "New England" encompasses a large spectrum of types of living from ghetto (Bridgeport, CT), to exorbitantly expensive (Greenwich, CT), to historic (Newport, RI).

In general, though, if you're talking about any piece of property directly on the water, it's going to be the most expensive piece in town (duh).

If you can narrow down your questions, you might get some better answers.

Fair enough. I've always loved the pictures I see when I look at the coast of Maine. Looks serene. But again, thats only going by pictures I see.

Okay, serious post, Coach. No trolling.

Worcester is sort of a shit hole. I lived in the New England for quite some time.

Maine is awesome. I have a friend in Maine. Beautiful home. Really a nice place to live and visit.

And Maine was voted as the most peaceful state (based on crime stats)

OK. Let's talk Maine. Beautiful country. Lots of nice lakes.

Beaches are nice, too, but you're never going to enjoy warm water.

Great seafood.

Winters are brutal and return quicker than you hoped for.

Flies in the spring can be a real pain.

It's a damn big state with many acres of wilderness and really not a heck of a lot going on and job opportunities.

You don't talk about women from Maine being "hot."

Nice, low property taxes.

There really is a place where all that bottled water comes from (Poland Spring, Maine)

Next state?

I go to Worcester for business only. I'm there usually for about 5 days or so. looking for a change in a few years I think.

LOL..ok, even though I like to look, I'm married so "hot" women wouldn't make much of a difference. (don't want to look at blue hairs all day either.haha) Is it a good boating community?

Yeah, its not my favorite place. I mean, certain parts of Worcester are okay.

But if you really want to get a taste for the New England area, go to Maine, Vermont or NH. That is, if you want to see beautiful scenery.

If you want to see museums and historical sites, id say just go to boston.

Worcester isn't Boston. Worcester is 50 miles west of Boston and has devolved into somwhat of a shithole. Aside from a couple of Universities it is pretty much garbage. The further west you go the shitier it gets, as in Springfield which is the last major city in MA before you get into New York State. Therefore the residential real estate market in Worcester and surrounding areas is dirt cheap compared to Boston. You will also find Worcester is rife with undesirables whose cultures espouse drugs, violence and murder. And it is not on the coast.

Boston, on the other hand, is on the Atlantic Ocean and is the world's epicenter of academics, medicine and culture. The prices skyrocket in Boston and surrounding towns like Brookline, Newton, Wellesley, etc as their public school systems are second to none and safety is way above average. The southernmost part of Boston is a little tricky because you have the nignogs in Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester. A lot of Cape Verdeans in Dorchester and they are absolute subhuman animals who kill one another like it was stepping on an ant. In Cambridge, which is adjacent to Boston, you will find Harvard University and MIT. However, you will also find Prius's with Obama stickers on them, man hating vegitarian douchebags, and male eunuchs who dress like their girlfriends and get "offended" by real men.

If you enjoy the beach, Cape Cod may be of interest although sections of the Cape are infested by welfare recipients and filthy Brazilians.

Check out Newport, RI. Some good food, a few bars, some historic landmarks (mansions to visit).

Vermont? Mmm.

Vermont has tons of liberals and hippies (fair warning) lol. But I am assuming youre not going their for a political debate, so really doesnt matter lol. I believe you could walk around nude in certain towns or cities. Yeah, a lot of hippies!

Vermont is an awesome state to visit. Since you already live in a big city, skip boston and go to to Vermont, NH or Maine. Id say Vermont or Maine. Cant go wrong either way.

Bullshit. I'm married, too.

Do you want some pale, beefy broad who's never seen the inside of a gym (or dentist's office) serving your lunch and handing you a beer ... or a perky, nubile chick who takes care of herself?

That's what I thought.

Trust me, hot women in Maine are a rare species.

Vermont is great if you enjoy the company of liberal New York Jews with grey ponytails, homosexuals and atheists. I am refering, of course, to Burlington. For the remainder of Maine, rent Deliverance and you'll get the picture.

Unless Coach enjoys outdoor sports (skiing, boating, fishin', huntin',foliage watchin'), etc. I'd put those states towards the bottom.

Coach, what kinds of actives are you looking to do while on these work trips?

Yes, Vermont is full of hippies, but Coach is not going to live there. He is just going to visit. Its a great state to visit. Very nice people.

Good point. Tons of activities. But like you said, depends what coach wants to do. If he wants to be active, then yeah, great states to go. Hard to say, because we dont know what he is going to do.

Providence Rhode Island has a good number of strip joints and plenty of guineas who are into bodybuilding. The economy sucks and way too many latinos in surrounding towns.

Natucket is nice. As is Block Island. I'd recommend Newport over either, though. Again, depends what you want.

Block Island is a great getaway, if you want to get away from it all.

I'm asking this because I'm actually getting tired of California. I've liked the feeling I get when looking at East coast boating communities. Looks peaceful

Not for work trips. I'm not out there enough.
