This thread is probably going to be x-ed by tonight but I'm curious to know...

Me indirectly, at least 20 people planned on "making a career out of it" and  lost it all; be financial (supplement "store", "turning" "pro") or legal (busted for stupidity) or worse health, for, well the obvious reasons.

Discuss this non lucrative madness.

Ive known two guys.
One was actually pretty good in the NPC in his early 20's, then BOOM polumboism set in and had nothing to fall back on.never recovered.

another aquaintence was THE man in the local gym. Thought he was "going to make it" never did. Havent seen him in a while, but last I heard, he sat at home all day on various BB boards and talked about how bitchin he was  :-\

THe NPC guy is probably on some muscle bear sites. I think he swings that way.

I talked about Getbig with the other guy once. All he said was "those guys are morons, we make fun of them." So, yes, he probably posts here  :D
He did tell me a story of selling a trunk load of gear to a former top Pro though. He was probably bullshitting.

LOL....

ironically, Bearism may save him. They tend to age well for some reasons.

So is bearism not penile seeking?  Anyway, I know a guy who got into the life, started letting his training partner tag team his wife with him. She left him for his buddy, he moved to Cali. He comes back every once in a while, weighs about 280 at 6 foot, and tries to say he's only "bridging" with 4iu of growth and 800mg primo. BB is for retards.

You're on getbig which means you have/had muscle dreams too. Now you look for people to point to come to terms with your levels of achievement.

This is true. I used to lift heavy in college, which made me join this board. The insanity made me stay long after dreams of oiling up in a thong on stage had dissapated.

Man, there were so many dudes in Toledo that were going after that pro card. I got there in 1991 and was lucky enough to train at a gym owned by Tom Long who won the Ohio a few times. Cool dude and THICK! He was a LHW and was a SHREDDED 195lbs. But he could never place in the top 5 at the jr.'s. Then i met Jim Mommany who helped me a LOT. Jimmy did turn pro in 1996 as a BW. THICK as hell! Then we had the rest of the gym rats. Guys that ran a ton of shit and did the Ohio every year only to not place well. There was about 10 guys that all trained at the Golds Gym in Toledo that were VERY active competitors. Some are in jail, some are dead and some dont even touch a weight. Me and my best friend are the only one's left that compete. But bbing led me down a dark path for a while.

Bodybuilding is lucrative to only a few - see Howard's thread from the other day.

I actually know two mates who have been made bankrupt as a result of their bodybuilding dreams - one ran a gym and the other ran a supplement store - both went under owing ridiculous amounts of money to local taxes and creditors in general.

Lift weights casually and enjoy that process as a side activity - don't live your life or rely on it for your income through it.

Hell, even my former drug dealer still lived with his mom.

Hehe. Alice needs a colon, not a period, after 'king' in his signature. Sometimes, punctuation can totally change what you mean to say, Mr. plain and simple.
