people used phones with wires and got busy signals.   You had to talk on the phone in the kitchen.  People mailed letters all the time. 

an inefficient world... but people did take time to relax a bit more.

The 80's had some of the best movies and action heroes, fast times at ridgemont high, back to the future, Beverly hills cop, Arnold movies, sly, van damme in bloodsport/kickboxer, ghostbusters, all those slasher films, the karate kid, breakfast club, the list goes on....

Cartoons like tmnt, transformers, smurfs, voltron, thundercats
