Yes, I prefer porn to whores although I said earlier this year I quit whores. Yes, I'm sure it's me defending myself from getting emotionaly close with someone so I'm not hurt or put myself in a position to get hurt.  And I'm sure that stems from my divorce with my wife and how tough that was.  This is a lingering problem I didn't see as a problem because I never thought about the reasons why I was behaving in a certain manner, I just did cause it satisfied one of my most basic human needs....pleasure and that was the fastest car to get to my destination, momentary increase of dopamine production...Meanwhile, I hurt my wife, and many other girls I've dated since spliting.  I didn't treat them like shit, that's not me. I would give them about 25% of me and it always ended very quickly.  I'd quit calling, contacting etc...or when we were out, I'd subconsiously do things to not become emotionally close (as you've said you've done yourself).  I guess if you really want to improve yourself, you have to be very honest and ask yourself some tough questions, that only you know the answers to.  If people are content with living that way, good for them but no doubt  it' unhealthy and unless you and the female meet purely for the purpose of fucking and that's it no emotional contact, you're going to have to be able to give yourself 100% BUT, I know most guys even myself say keep some percent back so a bitch doesn't hurt you.  I've seen it numerous times here.  This is not good.  Yes, you learn lessons and know signs of concern to look for from your past relationships, but you shouldn't punish your mate for something someone else did.  It's not fair and you wouldn't want a female to do it you.

Anyway, not resolving following my words made me shut down, stay alone, looking for only sex.  So I did the whores and I did the porn. I can't say I'm miserable, I'm fine, but I be alot happier not for having a woman in my life, but for not letting something rule me, and being able give 100% of myself and know that I left nothing on the table in order to make a relationship work.  How many guys can say they do this?  Not that many I gather.  We all have our rucksack of unresolved issues we carry and it grows larger in every relationship. Spot on dude.  I mean that in all seriousness.  That's where I am.  I don't want anyone around.  I tried to do a lot of the FWB thing and it only ended up causing more headache's and drama than when I was fighting with the ex.  Hell, one of them even said "sure I we can be friends".  Yeah, right.  Talk about being in denial.  So many times I would shut the phone off because of how jaded the conversation turned because of the 'rejection' she felt.  I am content as hell to not be with anyone.  Not many can say that.  I crack one off daily just because I am so routine.  Its not the same time every day, but its something to do for the endorphin release. 

Since backing off of the whole 'looking' thing and being involved in a relationship I have found that I am actually calmer and don't have the short temper like I used to.  I don't get pissed off over the smallest things and can even go so far as to say that I have more organization than I have before.  Who knows how long it will be before I actually get into a relationship again.  I couldn't give a shit either.

(age 33 now).  Enough is enough.  It got to the point that I rationalized not wanting a girlfriend because, with porn, I don't have to open myself emotionally, I spend money it, take it out, listen to its bullshit and every other negative characteristic of the human female.

Not healthy behavior when you let it get out of control.  I wasn't on the net for hours.  It would be something, I "took care of" really quick.  Well jerking off 2-6 times per day will certainly make your desire for a real woman dissipate. Sure, I'd fuck every now and then when the mood hits me but I would have much rather have my porn so I can just be done with it and not have to emotionally connect with a broad or figure out some creative way to let her know I didn't want to be there anymore or I didn't want her to be there anymore.  

So anyway, that's pretty much it.  It's only been 3 days but let me tell you, you really find out if youre dependent upon it when you quit, cause I'm an irritable sob.  I'm sure I'll mellow out eventually but I didn't think I'd be bothered by it that much but I was wrong.

The reason for my epiphany is because, within a group of people I spend much of my time with, there is a young lady, white,(surprise! )an 8 on her best day a 6.5 or 7 on any other day.  Anyway, I've known she's had some sort of feeling whether it's just wanting to be fuck buddies or something more, I don't know cause I just didn't feel like opening up at all, 0% to find out.  I justifyed, I'd rather crack one off (p.i.p. We stopped by McDs on the way home and went back to her place.  We were eating and smoking outside her house and she suggested I stay the night.  My rule is usually no, I lik waking up in my own bed.  But I'm not a big drinker and it seemed the alcohol had a stronger effect on me than I thought.  Her brother also suggested I stay.  She said she was dizzy and was going in and that she'd see us inside.
