Steve Rogers is the most idealistic super hero ever... No one can follow the standard he sets, it is impossible.

That's what makes him Captain America though... No one else truly can be.

I heard he developed a crush on Thor. Inside he's still a scrawny runt and so he has a thing for the son of a God who represents everything his inner scrawny runt wishes it could be.

He's quite a complicated, somewhat sad character really.

Tough one. I think of 'pure' heroes, the first one to come to mind is Captain Marvel. Maybe I'm confusing pure with idealistic - but I think they go together.

There have been several Caps over the years.  Also, they're juiced to the gills with PED, or what smoke n mirrors term "super soldier serum".

Maybe Lance Armstrong is the real life Captain America.

They have all had their turns TRYING to be Captain America... None of them can do it.

Also... The Serum and the connection to drugs was extensively covered in the "Streets of Poison" storyline...

If you haven't read it, I suggest you give it a go... There's even a trade paperback of it available I believe.

Oh, and Supes isn't the most idealistic super hero ever? Supes almost seemingly was thought up by a 4 yr old "I am invincible times Infinity."

At least Capt has some sort of grounding in reality or real world terms...

Great answer. But the only reason Captain Marvel isn't listed is because he is not as famous as the other heroes; Superman, Batman, or Spider-man. Back in the 40's CM was the most popular and who I think was the greatest superhero ever, today not so much. A movie is still in the development stage and will be out in a few years, that is what CM needs to come back into the limelight!

I'd love to see it but I'd be worried about how he gets portrayed. I think he's like Sir Galahad - the purest of the pure - because he's what a young kid imagines a superhero to be. But I don't really agree with the writers who put that young kids mind into Captain Marvel.

To me, he's an adult, but a very innocent one. He's not a kid in a superhuman body though, and he should be able to think like an adult. He's the guy who every woman's mother wants them to marry, but not necessarily the women themselves. He'd be friendzone or big brother material straightaway - (at least until Billy Batson started growing older).

Both Captain America and Superman I think have bit more ....not masculinity, but maybe, sexuality about them? I can see chicks wanting them. I can't see it with Marvel - despite him being Supe's equal. Like I said, maybe I'm confusing 'pure' with 'idealistic' - but I reckon they come together. How else would a kid view an adult superman?

Marvel - he's the purest hero in my book.

How they portrayed him in the Justice League was about as good as can be... Superman / Shazam was also good.

I think Steve Rogers as Captain America is even greater than Captain Marvel BECAUSE he's faced horrible adversity and still holds his ideals up.

Captain Marvel is naive and that's due to his true age... Steve Rogers has dealt with evil horrible things, and seen all kinds of shit, but still holds his ideals up.

That's what makes a hero.

Pure as in not consumed by lust for another superhero.

Captain America never had any lust for anything, he was 100 % pure.

He didn't even smoke or drink.

Always did what was right.
