What ever happened to the courtesy wave ?
« on: September 13, 2012, 01:14:38 PM »
You know the wave you used to get when you get to a stop sign at the same time as another car and you wave them on, or if someone is at a crosswalk and you wave them through.  People used to give you that nice wave as a thank you.  Now people just fucking go on, no wave, no smile, just go on through like they always had the right of way and you are a dumb fuck slowing them down.  What gives???

One time I waved on this hot big-titted bitch and she stopped the car and gave me a big hummer before moving on, true story.

I get angry when people don't wave, and I always let people over. Every other car in a merge, and traffic would never stop, but everybody is greedy and wants to get there first, and cuts people of. It's a microcosm of society as a whole and it sucks ass.

x2 most irritating things in life involving crowds could be nearly eliminated if the average person could be bothered to pay attention to the effects their actions have on others around them.

If I see that another driver and I will stop at the same time I will slow down and let him/her get there first. If both of us stopping at the same exact time simply can't be avoided ill look over, give them about a second to move and if they don't then I'm hitting the gas. I don't understand all the need for these formalities when this has always worked for me.

Sounds like communism to me.  I'll take liberty and freedom instead.

It does not sound like communism at all. It sounds like people having decent manners, caring about their fellow person, and not wanting to be selfish.

Sure, liberty and freedom allows us to be assholes, but that does not make it right either. You're confused. You think being allowed to do something makes it right. But being allowed to do something doesnt always equal the best or just choice.

right and wrong are moral judgements which quickly turn into legislation/force to control others....Ill take the liberty and freedom option instead.

Courtesy wave expectations are intense when you drive stoned. I don't do that though.

I wave, and one time this female I had with me laughed, and asked why I did it, "I said it's common courtesy.", She said that it was stupid and a grown man shouldn't "wave."

---Yet, she gets pissed off when nobody lets her in, and takes  people's right aways  ::)

most people have a cell phone in their free hand while driving, and thus cannot wave their hand at other drivers.

also, most people look down at stop signs to refresh their email or respond "LMAO" to their crush's recent text.

in small towns the "courtesy wave" is alive and well while in big cities even here is disappearing.
nowadays people driving have too many things to do: mobile phone, doing make up, text messages, facebook........sometime s I think it's a miracle just to get alive at home

I though the courtesy wave was for when you abruptly leave after a one night stand, and she sees you out the window getting in the car.

Which is why the driverless car is being pushed...people will have their hands free and more time to do things other than drive....
But what happens when there is a crash with these cars, can your blame the car?

I am white and live south of New Orleans. When I give courtesy waves to whites I might get a wave half the time, when I wave at blacks its about ninety percent of the time.

Oh really? There are A LOT of things which are right and wrong in this world, and I do not see them turning into legislation/force to control others.

Please, show me evidence of this.

Tell me a "wrong" that exists in this world outside of moral boundries.
