Today, Mitt Romney Lost the Election

You can mark my prediction now: A secret recording from a closed-door Mitt Romney fundraiser, released today by David Corn at Mother Jones, has killed Mitt Romney's campaign for president.

On the tape, Romney explains that his electoral strategy involves writing off nearly half the country as unmoveable Obama voters. As Romney explains, 47 percent of Americans "believe that they are victims." He laments: "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

So what's the upshot? "My job is not to worry about those people," he says. He also notes, describing President Obama's base, "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax."

This is an utter disaster for Romney.

Mitt Romney's campaign responded to the hidden camera footage of Romney at fundraiser claimg that Obama's voters are "are dependent upon government" and "believe that they are victims" posted online in a statement Monday evening.

"Mitt Romney wants to help all Americans struggling in the Obama economy. As the governor has made clear all year, he is concerned about the growing number of people who are dependent on the federal government, including the record number of people who are on food stamps, nearly one in six Americans in poverty, and the 23 million Americans who are struggling to find work," Romney spokesperson Gail Gitcho said in a statement. "Mitt Romney's plan creates 12 million new jobs in four years, grows the economy and moves Americans off of government dependency and into jobs."

This is something like the twelfth time the MSM has proclaimed he's lost the election and yet he keeps polling tied with President Downgrade.

Keep slogging away with your 12 hour days on here, Simple Jack. If you spent this much time applying for jobs you'd actually be employed.

"My job is not to worry about those people," he says.

Ahhhhhhhhhh  Don't say that, man.  He can be positive and win this thing.  You CAN motivate the base without insulting the left.  They will vote AGAINST him if he gives them a reason.  They might stay home and ignore the election if he doesnt - dem enthusiasm isn't that high.

EXACTLY!!! First, it was all over when Bin Laden was killed. Then, it was all over when Romney was pronounced the favorite to win the GOP nomination. Then, it was all over, once he actually clinched it. Then, it was all over because of:

  • Dog-Gate
  • Bully-Gate
  • Tax-Gate
  • Bain-Gate
  • Clinton's speech
  • Romney's reaction to Egypt and Libya's foolishness

Now, it's this. Who are the left-winged goofies trying to convince, us or themselves?

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina releases a statement on the newly surfaced video of Mitt Romney telling wealthy campaign donors that nearly half of all Americans are worthless freeloading moochers who don't pay any taxes:

It's shocking that a candidate for President of the United States would go behind closed doors and declare to a group of wealthy donors that half the American people view themselves as ‘victims,’ entitled to handouts, and are unwilling to take ‘personal responsibility’ for their lives. It’s hard to serve as president for all Americans when you’ve disdainfully written off half the nation.

Obama just told a bunch of hard-working Americans who run their own businesses, "You didn't build that!!".

As for what Romney reportedly said, unfortunately, in far too many cases, he's right. Besides, the lion's share of those people that fit that description are voting for Obama, anyway. So, what's the downside here?

Bottom line: This nth claim that Romney's toast and Obama has this election locked up will likely vaporize, just as all the rest have.

Romney Slams Obama Backers As Dependent On Government, Tax Dodgers

By Seema Mehta September 17, 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney, speaking to donors at a closed-door fundraiser this year, said that supporters of President Obama failed to take personal responsibility for their lives, relied on government for their needs and paid no income tax.

“There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care of them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it,” Romney said in a videotaped speech to donors that was given to the news organization Mother Jones, which posted it online Monday.

“That's an entitlement," Romney said. "And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. … These are people who pay no income tax.”

In the remarks, Romney said he had no hope of swaying those people to his side and would instead focus on unaligned voters.

"[M]y job is not to worry about those people,” Romney said, referring to Obama supporters. “I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

The Obama campaign immediately lashed out at Romney, saying that he had effectively written off half the population.
