Yes. The 6 times a day is a made up lie of the supplement companies to sell more protein.

mike mentzer insists you can eat ice creams in olympia preparations as long as you have caloric deficit

and sufficient protein which is not a lot

I am sure he did eat ice cream but the ounce of coke he snorted before and after burned it off within seconds.

Classic BB debate  Grin
5-6 feel much better, mentally and in my stomach. I become sleepy when I double the carb intake. My gut feeling* says that your body can't absorb 80 gr of protein from 1 meal, so I eat/drink 5-6 times 40 grams.

(*I know, this is a debatable subject)

Ok, how about 3 meals and 2 snacks in between meals?

What about the wood stove analogy. Is feeding the fire better to do 6 times a day in smaller amounts where it doesn't get too low or too high or 3 times a day in larger amounts where it will have it's ups and downs?

Omg, its about cals in cals out - not meal frequency!!

Besides, our individual metabolism depends on our current weight and muscle mass. I require 6-7 meals a day because I have a lot of muscle to hold (for a natural anyway..). Its also how my body functions the best. I eat small meals and often, and I got a very high metabolism. Keeps the blood sugar in check throughout the day.

Everybodys different so you cant knock this or that...

faulty analogy. metabolism isnt regulated by food intake in such a way.

one might bring up the thermic effect of feeding to try an argue that point, however the thermic effect of feeding is in addition to the base metabolic rate(which is independant of and uneffected by meal frequency).. and the total effect on caloric expenditure is going to be equal regardless of meal size/meal frequency.

I eat once or twice a day, if that.
Sometimes, just don't feel like eating. I eat when I am hungry.
When I was younger, I used to be a glutton, now I don't see the reasoning for eating 6 meals, protein shakes, and just stuffing my face.

No one can answer this question for you. You must train/diet/eat and find your own answer.

The answer for me is quite clear; 5-6 smallish/moderate sized meals per day is the answer.

After a snack (a bar, some fruit, etc) I'm hungry in no time. I prefer a meal with quality macros, containing about 500-600 kcals

Assuming you're eating the right calories to suit your goals, then the best plan for meal timing is one you can stick to long term.

Nothing trumps the following two diet principles:

1. consistent application of a consistently measured approach
2. right amount of calories per day/week/month/period

The rest is the minutia that bogs down bodybuilders. You get the above two right, there's no reason you can't get sub 8% bodyfat. Sub 8% is lean enough unless you're doing a show. Then the other few percentage points will come from the drugs you will surely have to be on.

If you like eating 6 times per day because it feels right, then do it. Or eat once per day. Or 18 times. Whatever...it really doesn't matter that much. As long as you fulfill the above two principles (which are very hard for most people to do, so don't discount them). But success leaves clues. Every success story in dieting gets the above two right. Then there's a rapid divergence in "other" beliefs and applications.

For normal cats, yes. For bodybuilders, I'm afraid that won't do it. . . at least in almost all the cases I've ever seen.

Sure is, so why don't you use it to to build the body of someone who dosen't suck? And waiting until you're hungry? It's too late by then. Fucking idiots with your stupid posts. No wonder all the good posters left here. The majority of you are simply just a bunch of dumb fucks.

Keep doing what you feel like when you want and keep up the good track record of being failures.

5-6 small meals is much better than 3 large ones... no brainer.  It keeps anabolism and metabolism elevated.

Aspiring bodybuilders (and couch potatos) often make the mistake of eating too much during one sitting which results in lots of spill-over (fat).
