Everything is cleared up and shooting has been underway for sometime in Japan, where we will get an origin story much different then the atrocity we saw in X-Men: Origins.

Director James Mangold is taking the story very seriously and today, 20th Century Fox sent over the first official look. Check it out after the jump.

As you can see, it’s Wolverine in his glory, claws out, looking like a trading card or ripped from some comic book pages. Pretty neat.

The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Brian Tee and Svetlana Khodchenkova.

“Based on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.”

The Wolverine will open in theaters on July 26th, 2013.

I believe the lessons of the new Batman saga have been taught.

Hollywood will water down these characters at their own peril.

This movie should be badassery. Hugh is terrific (no homo).

The irony is that a character who used to be a 5'7 indestructable manlet with an alcohol and anger problem is played by a 6'3 raging homosexual who is in touch with his feelings.

Actually he's supposed to be 5'3 vs. Jackman's 6'3.
