It's morally repugnant that the republicans think it acceptable to accept NRA membership cards as voter ID and not student I.D cards. Come on, who's that aimed at? It's aimed at college kids who tend to vote liberal. This is clear voter suppression.  I don't care who you are, that is clearly unamerican. And bringing up what the other party does is not an acceptable answer.

In Michigan they are attempting a similarly slimy tactic with absentee ballots.

In Dec 2008, Holder wasn't in power yet.  Neither was Obama.  I thought Bush's DOJ made that call to not prosecute these 2?
