stongman competitions were never very popular. funny how with the internet we see less of it now. no idea who anybody is now. except for Zydrunas.
then there was all that ifsa vs wsm drama.
Strongman is like most of the other strength sports and bodybuilding. It needs a strong personality to drive it.
70's Bodybuilding had Arnold, Franco, Ferrigno, etc........
80's Strongman had Kazmaier, John Pall, Wilhelm, etc........
Late 70's, 80's Powerlifting had lots of interesting guys.
70's Olympic lifting had Alexeyev, Rigert, Redding, the York Lifters, Patera,
All those guys were very out going, had interesting images, and were good with the press. That's what's missing from them today, there are tons of nice guys in the sport, but they don't have the charisma that many of the older guys had.
