Is cash earned from prizes/awards taxable in the US?   I know in Canada it's not.

I'd rather play golf and earn 11 million for a single tournament. BB is a joke.

There's no way if i was a sponsor i'd cover this show's winner for 500k, isn't a real return for your investment in these guys.  yeah, bsn benefited from signing ronnie when he was at the top. 300k is the most i can see for the olympia or the arnold.

Prize money, supplement companies sponsorships, guest posings, and more.   You can do fine.  You are not going to get rich, but neither is 99% of the country.    Kodus on the Olympia Team for giving out so much money in a niche sport.

I'd like to see the expense sheet before giving out any kudos.  Bodybuilding may be a niche sport, but they are making money hand over fist on the Olympia.

If we factor in how much money is spent on gear for the year just to be able to step onstage at the Olympia, how many will have actually made a profit from this show.Maybe top 5 or 6 at best, then after taxes have been paid, what would be the real earnings for the number 1 contest in bodybuilding.

Yes, offhand, the the top 5 lose around a 1/4 to 1/3 of the prize money to federal taxes, 6 - 10 will lose about 15%, the rest about 10%.

Plus there are state and local that still will have to get deducted.
