Explain this - People Weighing Themselves
« on: October 03, 2012, 11:10:38 AM »
When people say they gained or lost four or five pounds, I don't understand that.

I routinely loose and gain five to seven pounds of water/shit/food every day.

What's the deal with these people that are like "OH NO, I'M UP TWO POUNDS!".

WTF

WTF

I weigh myself the 1st of every month, first thing in the morning. Daily is utterly pointless as you said

We are obsessed with our weight and our appearance! Sometimes I weigh myself two or three times a day. -Doesn't change anything, but I still do it.

I never ever weigh myself unless Im on a diet trying to reach certain goals. Then I HAVE to weigh myself in order to make sure Ive hit my mark. Other than that, mirror is your friend, fuck the weight! Its just a number anyway. :)

WTF

The deal is simple: these people don't know about water bloat, they think they actually gained those pounds

OCD's. Jay Cutler supposedly said he weighed himself 30 times in one day. He brushed his teeth over 10 times in a day. And stood in front of a mirror for 16 hours straight one day. If that isn't mental illness, nothing is :-\

They're just delusional, the same folks who think that a calorie is just a calorie.

I would say that the fact that we are judged against some kind of numerical scale from the time we enter school until the day we die is a factor...

I weigh almost every morning, post 2-minute piss (not like I could do it before that anyway).  I call this my "dry weight".  The only way its more than a pound or so different than it was the day before is if I had a good bit more or less sleep that night, or if I ate a lot more or less than normal for supper the night before.  Over the course of a week I can see if I'm going in the right direction, but two or three days is meaningless.
