Do people vote for president based upon 1st debate performance, or policy of that candidate?

President Kerry won his first debate too.

There's a difference between winning and making your opponent look like a total bafoon.

no doubt obama looked like a buffoon - I've said that louder than anyone.  Romney looked stellar.

BUT will there be any long-term damage from it?  I didn't see any obama QUOTES that he made, aside from 100 "uhhhhh" lines.

Romney, on the other hand, did say some things which are being used against him now in commercials.  It's like emptying your gun to scare off a bear, while a pack of wolves get together on your other side.   What kind of shift in swing states do you predict htis week, coach?

that's HUGE - particularly for Ohio.  Obama peaked way too early.  the $ they have to play with in the last month will matter a lot.

going to be fairly close.  Usually we'd know by the time ohio/penn/FL close, who is going to win this election.... this time it might come down to Arizona or something crazy like that.

oops.. sorry, I moved my previous reply to you other thread:

240, I found this on http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

Post-debate state polls show Romney up one in Virginia,  the president up one in Ohio and Romney up two in Florida. All three remain Toss-Ups in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections. Check out our review of last week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.”

yep, Repubs seem to have forgotten what a rolling disaster the Romney campaign had been up until that point

The only thing they are fighting over at this point are the independent voter and most people tend to remember the last thing they saw or heard
