It's kind of stupid to argue boxing vs MMA. They're completely different combat sports.

It's like wondering if the best MLB player could hit a ball in cricket, and vice versa. Yes, both sports involve striking a ball with something made of wood. That's where the similarities end.

The very best MMA fighter with a boxing background in the world today (Dos Santos) would lose to any top-ranked heavyweight boxer today in a boxing match. Likewise, Dos Santos would easily crush any boxer in an MMA fight. The two sports are just too dissimilar for there to be efficient cross-over.

I fondle the notion that boxing is harder with great pleasure.
Footwork, striking, head movement has to be clock work if you want to be somewhat good in boxing. You have a smaller set of actions/technique but you have to develop them to a much higher degree. Even the jump from kickboxing to boxing is a huge one.

When it comes to be a world champion and fight top competition boxing is 10 x harder than MMA ,if he's talking about training I would say MMA and boxing are the same ,if he's talking about pain ,getting hurt ,etc MMA is harder than boxing, when it comes to long term side effects boxing is more dangerous than MMA.

I wouldn't be surprise, if a young Kurt Angle did well in MMA, given he could defend take downs and hold his own on the ground, which is something TRUE boxers like Tony with no wrestling history can't do. On other hand he'd get his block knocked off in boxing.

I have never done BJJ but i have done Judo which is much the same. I will not say Groundwork is not important because a good strangle ends a fight too...but, most Boxers will win and fast.

Could I spar with a professional MMA fighter in BJJ and give them a little work? Sure, I've done that before. But I will not pretend in the slightest that I could hang with a pro-level fighter in the octagon or boxing ring.
