Light headed/dizzy when doing squats recently..
« on: October 10, 2012, 04:03:26 AM »
This is a new development ...

Lately on leg day, I've had to cut short my workouts due to feeling dizzy, light-headed...about to faint. I'm going to schedule a Dr's appt. today, but I was wondering if my pre-workout activities might contribute to these symptoms..

I work out early (5:30 am)
Empty stomach
Caffiene + Redbull 30 min before workout.

I've started going a little heavier, and this is when it all kicked in.

Any thoughts as to possible cause?  ???
The answer is "yes".

You're over exerting yourself. That's your body's way of telling you, lighten up or I'm gonna bust a blood vessel.

I have been on low calorie, low carb for the past few weeks and recently began squatting again.  Most noticeably I experienced the same thing as you while squatting on ECA and this diet.  However, this only lasted about 5-10 seconds after an intense set.

Could be to much caffiene on an empty stomach that causing a little bit of hypertension, when your straining on the squats?

When im on eph, I do notice pain behind my eyes a little when I go heavy on squats/deads but eph is known to increase BP a bit when you mix with asprin and the blood in thinner.

Took blood pressure before breakfast: 142/104. (after workout)

90 min later

After breakfast: 118/82.

I think the red bull/caffeine pill on empty stomach playing havoc w/ the bp. Next leg workout, I won't take anything before squats and see if its any different.

Still making appt. though, just to make sure.

If it still happens have a meal of whole eggs before bed. When is your last meal?

x2 I got this as well a few years ago, same feeling, then one day had a big dull headache that wouldn't go away and got real bad if I tried to squat.

Yeah, I've had a headache all day. Maybe I will just take up tennis, or hacky sack.

I got it doing 20-rep squats, it went away when I just stopped doing squats for a few weeks.  Since then I've avoided high-rep squatting.

It's probably a normal blood pressure drop after exertion, forgot the term for it. Might help if you don't sit down, or lie down, immediately after a heavy set. Take a walk around the gym. :D

heme-iron

or it could be from caffiene

also if your body fat is too low it can happen

after i cut the drugs and caffiene i was still very ripped for a brief period, i had excellent control over my appetite but i would fucking get dizzy and faint feeling if i were to go in a grocery store

On low carbs it's either work out OR jerk off;  not both.
