I saw 130 of it, but fail to see why this track is terribly relevant..

You need to watch from 3:20, very good, although I was waiting for Mentzer to come on stage and start hitting an amphetamine induced posing routine.

I don't believe Neil is as enamored with Rand as he possibly was back when he was penning lyrics with that inspiration. The man is alarmingly intelligent, so that his thoughts and concepts might have evolved/changed over these past 30 years is not a stretch. Peart is a consummate professional. Even beyond natural talent, it is this attribute that has propelled him to such status as a drummer. As Geddy says, the man practices before he practices.

How many greenies was Mentzer on there? At least he was articulate, had a personality, bashed authority, etc. compared to the monotone automatons they have in BB today.

what was Rand's basic philosophy?
was it something like, "you're number one, think only of yourself and be a true individual"?

Yes, Objective view of reality and rational self interest. Also, Capitalism is king and religion sucks. I am very confused that Paul Ryan marks out to Ayn Rand, but claims he is devout Catholic.

yep, that would be kinda strange for a devout Catholic to be such a radical objectivist, since Christ's message was basically to help and serve others ie. love one another

He's a Republican. They are more in line with Rand and less in line with Christ. Amazes me all the evangelical Christians and Born Agains who go Republican.
