Politics Infect Nutritional Labeling
« on: October 15, 2012, 10:00:29 AM »
Here is a NYT article regarding a proposed nutritional label that has an overall score based in part on "WELFARE A measure of the impact of the food’s production on the overall welfare of everything involved: laborers, animals, land, water, air, etc. This rating also accounts for carbon footprint and chemical (pesticide, for example) and drug (like antibiotic) residues."

Is there no place left that we can be free from being "force fed" someone's agenda?  A food label should inform someone about the basics of NUTRITION, not their view of what is beneficial for migrant workers or global warming.  I'll tell you this, if I want to eat a steak, I will and plenty of it, "carbon footprint" be damned.

Here is a link to the article and a pic of part of the proposed label.

Armani, I overlook your anti-socialist rhetoric in other threads, but I WILL NOT sit idly by while you question the U.S. government's qualifications in "agenda-feeding" and even telling us what we should and should not eat.

CLEARLY, the people below are the best qualified on all matters of nutrition, and I refuse to allow you to sully their good names by spewing your slanderous filth.

Who are they proposing determine and "enforce" these so-called standards?  ::)  The GMO label isn't a bad idea  ;D  Then again, practically everything would have a "Has GMOs on the label.

Is Michelle behind this one also?  ::)

You located much more flattering pictures of "the First Lady" than I did.

Your Kung Fu is stronger. I humbly bow out.
