As previously stated, when you only use a 45lb plate on each side of the leg press its highly likely you aren't putting much weight on the bar.

Maybe a little bit but leg press won't allow you to feel the weight on the back/shoulders and spine. Regardless of how heavy you go on the leg press, 405 pounds on the squat will still feel as heavy on your shoulders as it did before the months of leg press if not heavier.

What if you unrack 600 lbs on your shoulders every week, but don't actually do squats?  Just to keep the feel of the heavy weight.

If for whatever reason you can not squat heavy, it's always best to do "20 rep breathing squats" with lighter weight:

OP, If you're going to insist doing that then put your feet lowish (or lowest) on the platform and do proper, full reps, at least.

I have way stronger hamstrings than quads and LP's are a breeze as the foot position rises.
