The contradiction with each of the two candidates
« Reply #50 on: October 22, 2012, 09:31:49 PM »
1)  Obama and Romney both stress that they will work with Muslims/Arabs to reduce anger towards the US and extremist activity.

2)  Obama and Romney both insist they will blindly stand by Israel as their strongest ally.

How come no one comments on the fact that #2 is in direct conflict with #1, because US support for Israel is probalby the single most significant item which fuels anger towards the US in the middle east?

Can't have it both ways, can't have your cake and eat it too.  The cost of #2 is a failure to achieve #1.

Regardless of who won or lost, do you think many people were even watching since football and baseball was on?

Sure I can. Obama, as usual, interrupted Romney before he could get two syllables out of his mouth.

And, much like his last "win", it will do almost NOTHING to reverse Obama's slide (Romney over 50% in Gallup before and after that debate; Romney now ahead of Obama on RCP's electoral map, with several states still toss-up and Obama barely up two in Rasmussen's EC map).

When you get smoked in the debate, on THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE OF THE ELECTION, merely showing up with a pulse on debates, regarding much lesser topics, is little more than the consolation toaster.

again you are nit-picking...Obama destroyed him..case closed...

however,..I do believe Obama is going to lose the election.....there is just too much negativity going on out there and the American people may feel they need a change

Smacking the shit out of him? Romney has done a good job showing how Obama's foreign policy has crumbled and how Al Qaeda is on the rise. Not much more needs to be said.

Obama has yet to lay out his agenda or explain why the Middle East is worse off now than before he took office.

are you living in a dream???

Economy is the DOMINANT ISSUE! Case closed.

Getting smoked in that debate, while "winning" a debate on a far-less important topic, means Obama's victory is as hollow as a beach ball, especially when you look at the internals.

If that's the case after this one, it would mean that Romney did in ONE DEBATE, what Obama and Biden couldn't do in THREE: Build a huge wave of momentum that could carry all the way to victory on Nov. 6.

Romney's mistake is that he has a habbit of challenging the president on a question in a way that requires an immediate response from Obama; where he turns to him and directly challenges him, that's not good because he's instantly giving away his time for Obama to answer and Obama hasn't missed a beat on that so far.  Romney made this mistake in the last debate and you can see Obama is running with it in this debate.  Romney should have been coached on this as a mistake from his last debate.

WTF is Romney talking about when he says Syria is Iran's route to the sea? WTF ::)  Did he really just say that in this debate?  He should probably study that middle east map a little more lol...  This blunder alone could be why he loses the debate.  I'm guessing tomorrow there will be talk about this in the media.

The incumbent usually has the advantage in FP debates.

The challenger just needs to score a few points, stay out of any traps/landmines, avoid semantical arguments.

I believe Mitt Romney did those things, or at least most of those things, last night.

The spin will be rocking and rolling these last two weeks so it should be a fun and eye-rolling ride to Nov. 6th.

This debate also reinforced my total hatred of how these "Debates" are run in that they aren't actual debates. Make them do 4 real debates with none of the dumb "Town Hall" nonsense, no sitting at tables and no bad, biased moderators. Let them actually have debate.

Barack Obama RIPPED By Bayonet Co. "We're Still Relevant!!!"
tmz.com ^ | 10/23/12

Posted on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 11:46:22 AM by Justaham

President Barack Obama has offended the bayonet community ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ spoke with multiple people in the bayonet industry who tell us they were shocked and even offended when Obama brought up the weapon during last night's debate.

FYI -- Obama was going after Romney when he said, "You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed."

According to the official U.S. Marine Corps website, every Marine is STILL required to complete a bayonet training program ... because "the weapon becomes just as effective [as a rifle] in close combat situations."

We spoke with Dan Riker from Bayonet Inc. -- a leading military surplus outlet that specializes in bayonets -- who tells us he believes Obama's comment was "ignorant ... because our soldiers still use bayonets."

He adds, “[Bayonets] are still distributed to the military all the time -- he should get educated on it”

For the record, Riker says he won't be voting for Obama ... "and I didn't vote for him last election either."

It non't matter who gets the position shit is out control can't be fixed too far gone.

Unfortunately, you make an excellent point here. Personally, I think world affairs are going to continue to degenerate as long as the world population continues to expand beyond the resources to sustain it. You see this all the time, the more overpopulated an environment or city, the less value we place on human life. Look at the largest cities in India, South America and Asia....or even in the United States. People are killing each other and barely giving it a second thought. Heck, we have even devalued our own lives so that many folks live in a drugged stupor until they succumb to an early death.

Bob Woodward: Obama 'mistaken' on sequester
Politico ^ | 10/23/12 | Leigh Munsil
Posted on October 23, 2012 11:45:19 PM EDT by MissesBush

Bob Woodward says President Barack Obama got some of his facts wrong on sequester at Monday night’s debate.

Woodward’s book, “The Price of Politics,” has been the go-to fact check source for the president’s answer, in which he claimed the idea of using deep, automatic, across-the-board domestic and defense spending cuts to force Congress to address the nation’s burgeoning federal deficit originated from Congress, not from the White House.

“What the president said is not correct,” Woodward told POLITICO Tuesday. “He’s mistaken. And it’s refuted by the people who work for him.”

Woodward, a Washington Post journalist who was a key reporter on the initial coverage of the Watergate scandal, said he stands behind his reporting in the book, which drew upon sources involved in last year’s deficit talks and detailed notes taken in the meetings.

Woodward reports in his book that White House Office of Management Director Jack Lew and Legislative Affairs Director Rob Nabors took the proposal for sequestration to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and then it was presented to congressional Republicans.

During the debate, however, Obama said the idea originated on Capitol Hill.

“First of all, the sequester is not something that I've proposed. It is something that Congress has proposed,” Obama said, adding his strongest pronouncement to date on its future: “It will not happen.”

Woodward said there’s a possibility the president was unaware of how the idea came about.

“It’s a complicated process — and in fairness to the president — maybe he didn’t know that they were doing this because it’s kind of technical budget jargon,” Woodward said.

“What I wrote — it’s specific date, time, place, participants,” he said. “What I’ve reported is totally accurate. Call Nabors and Lew. Or ask the White House. I mean, they know that’s accurate.”

Still, briefing reporters Tuesday aboard Air Force One, White House press secretary Jay Carney continued to blame sequestration on Congress.

"What the president said last night was a reiteration of what his position has long been," Carney said. “The sequester that was designed and passed by Congress was never meant to become policy, it was never meant to be implemented."

Woodward agreed that sequestration wasn’t intended to actually happen.

(PHOTOS: Scenes from the Boca Raton debate)

“No one thought it would happen. The idea was to design something … that was so onerous that no one would ever let it happen. Of course, it did, because they couldn’t reach agreement,” he said. “They all believed that the supercommittee was going to come up with a $1.2 trillion deficit-reduction plan, so there would be no sequestration. Of course, the supercommittee failed and so the trigger went off, which has all of these very Draconian cuts.”

It's not like it matters anyway.  There's zero chance the state I'm in votes for anyone but Romney.  My vote matters about as much as 333386's vote, none. ;)
