Obama and Romney tied in North Carolina
« on: October 25, 2012, 12:17:58 PM »
Source: Public Policy Polling

PPP's newest North Carolina poll finds Barack Obama and Mitt Romney tied at 48, representing a small shift in Obama's direction from a week and a half ago when Romney led 49-47. This now makes 27 out of 28 polls of the state PPP has conducted this cycle where the candidates have been within two points of each other.

Obama has built up a lead over the first week of the early voting period in the state. Among those who say they've already voted he's at 57% to 42% for Romney. Romney achieves the overall tie because of a 50/45 advantage among those yet to vote.

Obama's performance in the debate this week may be helping to pull him closer in the state. 50% of voters think he was the winner on Monday night to only 35% who think Romney was victorious, including a 51/21 spread among independents. He and Romney are now effectively tied among independent voters at 46/45, where Romney had a 54/40 advantage with them on our last poll.

-snip-

A key reason Obama remains competitive in North Carolina is that the Democratic base is extremely fired up. That's been reflected in the early voter turnout to date, and we also find that 77% of Democrats say they're 'very excited' to vote in the election this fall compared to 65% of Republicans. Among African Americans 83% say they're 'very excited' to cast their ballots.

oh bullshit you lib -  i saw a poll last week that had romney firmly in control of this state.

now we're supposed to believe voters in that state somehow changed their opinions in a week.

Sorry, not buying it, last weeks' numbers were fine, let's stick with them.

Democrats were not D+9 in 2008 and somehow they think Obama will be in two weeks?

DEMS Oversampled plus 9, and the best Obama can do is a TIE? There are reportedly no new ad in North Carolina.

Yet, the libs expect us to believe this BS.

"Tied" at 48, with the undecideds going to the challenger.

Yep, we're really chewing the nails on North Carolina, a state Obama won by the skin of his teeth (14,000 votes)....that he just ticked off nearly six months ago by endorsing gay "marriage", shortly after they passed their marriage amendment.

Even by liberal standards, this is pitiful.

The D+9 is a parting kiss as the campaign pulls up it's stakes and leaves the state. These polls just oversample the Democrats by too far a margin, many of them have voter turnout/enthusiasm for the Dem's at a larger size when compared to 2008. The race will be close with each candidate having a good shot at winning, but some of these polls are out of whack.

Like the so-called "Fact Checking", some of these polls are propaganda operations...or so it would seem. Part of me wishes that they weren't available for the public to see, just the campaigns. That and lower the national debate threshold for 3rd party candidates to 5% instead of 10%.

Obama's "support" for gay marriage killed him in NC.   I've seen polls where he gets only 85% of the black vote in NC.   He can't win with that number...

Yeah because 2 polls have him up by either 6 or 9 yet these guys have it as a tie in a state that Obama has all but pulled out of......
