David Henry, a genetic god
« on: November 26, 2005, 08:13:51 PM »
He doesn't work his traps, doesn't do deadlifts or work his lower back at all, and does not need to do cardio to get in contest shape (as written in MD).  Chest could use a little work though.

Taylor's body is downright ugly, his size is about the only thing going for him.

agreed, I've just never heard of any pro not doing those lifts and not doing cardio and looking like that.

Dex doesn't do deadlifts and doesn't work traps?  I've heard he doesn't do cardio.

he does do deads, rack deads atleast..I've seen a video. He was one of Dante's client, and Dante discourages direct trap work in favor of rack pulls. I'm surprised noone else pointed thsi out.

DH is like many other small greats.

He looks way better than Coleman in individual pics.

Then they stand side-by-side and RC demolishes him.

When did Coleman and Dave Henry ever get to stand side by side?

well I never knew that a model's face was a pre-requisite in a bodybuilder's career...I guess that shuts Dorian down....and also, I didn't know there were still height classes in the IFBB, I do recall Lee Priest winning a Pro Show this year sans these different classes......I simply said the man has excellent genetics by developing himself to this point without doing certain lifts and no cardio....and he's an active member in our military so cut him some slack.

Condor:

I agree totally with your assessment of Henry as I was shocked when I was surprised by his completeness when I saw Olympia pics.

Why is everyone on this board so contradictory & so unwilling to give someone a compliment.  Judging by the reply's & not reading the 1st post I would have thought you said that Henry should have won the Olympia!

Henry is a genetic god & for the 'haters" that doesn't mean he has the height or the poundage to win the Olympia or any IFBB contest.  Henry looks great, is big enough, strong enough, and has the appearance that his body is more functional than most pros today.  To me that is awesome!

Not true. Sorry. His muscle bellies are short, an he has a defective skeletal structure. Not top pro material.

Just to clarify some facts for the board

Dave is 5'5" 1/2 (or slightly shorter than Shawn and Dexter)

Dave won his pro card at 162lbs in 2002

Three years later Dave competed in his last pro show at 204lbs. He has busted his ass and ate alot of food and lifted back breaking weights to put on 42lbs of muscle mass in 3 years

I personally believe there isnt a barbell shrug on this earth that can beat an incredibly heavy deadlift or rack deadlift for trap growth and if all bodybuilders do shrugs, why are ronnie colemans and Johnny Jacksons traps 2x the size of the other 400 or so odd pro bodybuilders (deadlifts)

Dave has gone up to I believe 735lbs on rack deads

Dave knows where he must go here. We are looking at 214-220lbs onstage (he was near 230lbs last offseason so he is making his way up)

Although the MD article stated what Dave did in one workout you have to look at the big picture, Dave trains back twice as often as most pro bodybuilders. So whereas most other bbers train back 52 times a year, Dave trains back up to 91 times a year. We do in 2 workouts what most people do in one. But we grow twice in 8 days while everyone else grows once. (Not trying to start a training argument, just explaining the method to the madness)

Lastly Dave is a great guy who never says a bad word about anyone...he is out there trying to do his very best as a bber and a person (something I feel alot of people should try to do (thats including myself)

Take care (Dante)
